First warm ones are my choice :)

I think the "warms" are winning. :-)

Thanks for taking a look and adding a comment Larry.

The author of one of my photography books recommended shooting using the "cloudy" setting to create more warmth in images. I've played around but haven't decided which I like more, thus the experiment. I still don't know but have narrowed it down to what kind of mood I want to create. While it might be important to keep the image true to the natural colors, the artistic element is about creating mood to some degree.

Thanks for adding to the thread with your thoughtful comments.

I don't think you need our input on which is best picture. All were great shots. Each picks the mood and setting you want to convey. I'd like to shoot the way you did these.

I played around with white balance while getting some shots of the Gold-crowned Sparrows that are wintering here. Some were shot with the "cloudy" setting, others with the "sunny" setting. I can't decide which I like better - warm or cool. Any thoughts?

#1 does it for me but for sure I like them all. Very nice series thanks for sharing.

Thanks for taking time to post an opinion Ari. I guess that puts you in the "warm camp." :-)

It seems like the votes for the warmer images are winning 2/1. Thanks for your input Sylvia and for the thumb.

I hope you and Bob are having a great time on your safari. I'll be looking for your photos when I have more time.

Ok Vicky it's getting near time you let us know what you prefer. My guess is you might prefer the warm ones but that's just a guess. I think you like the warm tones a little more in photography....Rich

I haven't really decided. I leaning more toward using a particular setting to create a mood. If I want a "cute, cuddly" feeling, I'll go with the warmer setting. If I'm going to try to show something a bit more somber or morose, it will be the cooler one. These birds are cute, so the warmer shots may compliment that aspect. If I shoot them in the rain when they're competing for seeds at the feeder, the story may be different, and maybe the setting should reflect that.
