I'll bite, is this a seasonal 3rd quarter dip or some bizarre downturn, anomaly?

I do respect the HOG but, sales will ALWAYS flux around the mean, it is much like stock. I am in for the long run. Look at 5 year averages of these companies and you will see a different picture. When do folks buy camera's? Nikon knows, spring and fall (around the holidays) that is why in the spring of each year Nikon has a sale, why you ask?, because that's when the groundHOG goes back in it's hole and people start thinking about spring, warmer weather and PHOTOGRAPHY. Marketing is so simple when you determine the human mind and what it wants and when it wants it. Rest assured, Sony will replace the A99 and Nikon will replace the D4s and D810, Canon will also announce soon a newer and better camera to create that "I have to have it cause it's better than what I have now" rationale we all use to BUY IT.

The camera makers are just as contrived as cell phone makers or other electronic devices manufacturers. They already knew 12-18 months before the next 'new' model that is going to come on the market, and price them as high as the consumer can bear. Take the example of Sony RX100 series. The price between Mark I to Mark IV is hugely significant, or the profit margin of an iPhone. Everybody knows how much they cost to make and yet happily pay out the inflated price for a device which they know in a year's time, there will be a newer model, and in Samsung's case, even less than a year, while the cost of molded lenses and sensors are coming down all the time even though they are improved. Has anyone look at the back of a new TV lately. Everything needed to control the TV fits into a box size of a paperback.

Please don't confuse this person with facts. As for ineptness, we have never seen a House(rep dominated) so piss poor. What did they even try to do other than go after the ACA, over and over and over.....yawn. And the comedy Rep primaries, each climbing over each other to screw every poor, female and minority person. These positions are what screwed them in 2012 and they are doing it again. I love it!

We are seeing the results of being technologically saturated. Phone companies actually think people are crazy enough to keep upgrading phones yearly when the new models offer no breakthrough innovations. Just get a system like camera, computer, and phone set the way you want and frankly the breathing space given by getting off the must upgrade wagon is much more rewarding.

It is really time to evolve and find a different and humane way of promoting innovation, rewarding achievement, while providing basics to all. Our system is very outdated. Any one know what a real dollar is?

Guess who keeps printing money or QE as they so beautifully call it. Who replaced hard earn cash with credit cards and who punishes all the retirees with zero (soon to be negative) interest on their hard earned life savings, forcing them to take risks if they want an income.

I have well over $5k invested in my latest camera and damned if I can see much difference between my shots and those taken by my daughter-in-law with her %^&$# cell phone camera.. Nothing is as constant as change...
