Meanwhile, Olympus showed a profit for the first time since, um, forever.

How do these numbers compare against smart phone cameras?

wow, you were lucky! hate to think what would have happened to you. i've shot pt lobos decades ago, and would not want to have had that difficulty!
as an aside, did you get any photographic tips from Brett?, autograph, chance to meet later for crab cakes?

pps, i like my hasselblad, too!

No, I bought him a beer in Carmel and went our separate ways.
I asked someone in the bar to make a photo of us and he used my Nikkormat FT2 to do it. That photo and many others were lost due to theft a few years later.

BTW, isn't Pt. Lobos a coastal jewel and a gift to photographers?

oh yes - it is legendary, dating from the earliest days of large format photographers. by the way, did you notice which lens he had on his hasselblad? (hee-hee).

i used to photograph it during the winter months when storms would hit the coastline. got some unique black and whites and didnt' have to compete with groups of folks who would show up during the warmer months.

there's not much on the west coast that can even compare with pt. lobos - as you say, nature's gift to all of us.

I had a dream that Apple announced the ICAM which was based on an IPhone on steroids with many advanced features that photo enthusiasts require. The sales of full size cameras are declining and it seems that more folks are relying on their cell phones as their primary means of taking a photo... The ICAM would place as much emphasis on the photo aspects as the phone. Let your imagination run with wi-fi, GPS etc... Just saying !

My daughter has the iPhone 6s I have the 6. The photography is very good. The slo mo on the 6s is quite amazing. What they are doing is firmware that works to make the exposure work with the shot so it does not look dark and the software make the shots look better overall. That is why the big camera's are getting killed. A famous photographer said recently everybody is a photographer. After all the idea in a lot of cases is to get an image or video at an event or life style family etc. And transmit it within seconds.
