Hey Colin,
I got some color for ya!
And some B&W too.
Eric
Hi everyone, I want to thank EricLPT for inviting me to this thread. I have enjoyed seeing everyone's IR photos and wanted to share a few of my own. I have a D3100 converted to IR, I chose 590nm for the cutoff to get a little color in the images. I hope you enjoy my contribution to the thread. Keep them awesome pictures coming. :D

I like your color adaptations and welcome to the color club! I took some clouds this afternoon.

Jim,
Good to see you here and glad you made it! Since you have a 590nm you can also use any filter
above that nm to achieve different results. If you know you want to shoot B&W I find the R72 works best but I also have good results with my 47B super blue filter and then converted to B&W too. Not sure how that will work on a 590nm set up.
Post more soon,
Eric

Hi Jim.... What do you use for your White Balance with the 590nm? Grey or White card, or some other color? Just wondering..... Love the IR's you posted.

Eric are you using software to piece you images together or a wide angle or what. I really like them.
I had my older Canon 60D Converted to IR by Life Pixel last June to Super Color, which I believe is 590nm, or the Goldie Filter. I was able to take it out for about an hour or less right after I got it, but have not been out with it for the past few months because of some health problems my wife has had. Before this I was using an old Olympus C-2100 UZI IR sensitive camera with a R72 filter on it. It works great for B&W IR, but the camera only has 2.1 megapixel quality, so your enlargements are limited to about 8" x 10" pictures at best. I'm still expermenting with the White Balance on my new Canon conversion, and still trying different color conversions for the pictures that I took back in June. Thought I'd post a couple of different post processings that I tried.... Hoping to get out soon to try some new stuff. Whites in last picture are a little blown out. All can be enlarged.

Mike I have been curious to see what desert landscape looks like in IR. I want to venture into that photography and that is the type landscape we have the most of.
Nice shoots.

Thank You... I think the desert looks great in IR....;0) I'm anxious to try more with my new camera conversion. Here in Reno, you kinda have your choice. I live about 3 miles from the Mt. Rose Mountain tree line which is mostly all pines, and about 20 miles from Lake Tahoe, or below my place it's mostly Nevada desert. Looking forward to seeing some of your IR when you're ready.

I have been up and down that hwy to Mt. Rose many times. It is a great area to be a photographer. It is not bad around here either but I have always loved Reno and the Lake Tahoe area.

I agree with you about Vegas, I spent a lot of time there over the years, I lived in San Diego for about 36 years, so I made a lot of trips there. The leaves are starting to change colors around here, so I hope to get out and get a few shots before they are gone. I've never shot colored leaves in IR before... Curious what they look like...;0) Here's one taken about a year ago with my old Olympus C-2100, about 3 miles from our house at Galena Creek area.

Wow I really like that Mike. You should try to get some changing leaves in IR. I will be interested to see how they come out. I have had fun watching the post here from Colin, Eric, Swede, you and now IR Jim.

Yeah... Eric the one that got me started in IR, long before this thread started... I'm the one who suggested it to him, in his first post...;0) I didn't know anything about IR then, but wanted to learn. A complete different way of looking at things that's for sure.
