Thanks for starting your thread. I just got into IR about a year ago someone gave me a Minolto Dimage 7 that was converted to shoot IR. Later had my old Canon 20D converted to 665 IR cost me $225.00 to have it done. I've been having a blast ever since. Here are some of my Favorites.

Wow Fuzzy Coach... Page 74 Those are just outstanding. What PP are you using to achive that dark dreamy look in your IR pictures? I may have to invest in a 665nm camera.....;0) Very well done.

Hi Jim.... What do you use for your White Balance with the 590nm? Grey or White card, or some other color? Just wondering..... Love the IR's you posted.

Mike,

My camera cannot set a custom WB after the conversion so I have to shoot RAW and set it PP. I use Raw Therapee to set the WB however Capture NX2 does a better job but the demo has expired :x
I have tried other RAW editors including Adobe Camera RAW but they cannot 'cool' the image enough.

I have a copy of Capture NX2 I will sell if you are interested. I have moved on to PS CC and I do not use NX2 any longer I will include some after market books and a B&W conversion book by Jason Odell.

Thanks John... I have plenty of photo software, and I use Canons converter for Canon's CR2 raw files. I shoot everything in Raw & Jpg, both IR and regular colored photos. I was just wondering what Fuzzy Coach used to PP his IR files to get the effects he gets. I think I read he used Sagelight for part of it if I remember right. I have Sagelight, but it's not an easy program to conquer. I have the original PS CS, which was PS Version 8, but I'd like to step up to CS5 or CS6, but they both are on the pricey side for us retired folks....;0)

Thanks for the offer though.... Mike

That is why I signed up for CC. It cost me $19.99 per month. I can afford that but could never afford the $700 to $800 needed to buy the product.

Hi again - have been away so long finding where infrared is taking me - have been remiss in not commenting on how much I love all the photos

Have just been exploring the E-P1 & Panny G2 and a new direction of Digital Sketches from the IR Photos - so would love to share some on them

Cheers for years

Eric are you using software to piece you images together or a wide angle or what. I really like them.

Nikonnut,

I use Autostitch freeware to stitich my images. My Fuji X10 has the 'Sweep Pano' feature but I find I don't like the way those sweeps look. It is in the shop right now anyway so I'm using some of my vast camera collection (OK I just have a few) for recent panos. My IR camera is a Fuji IS-1, a from the factory IR camera.

Sorry I'm so slow to respond but I work weekends and my loving and beautiful bride was out of town this weekend so I had varmint duty (3 dogs & 2 cats) all by myself too.

I had my older Canon 60D Converted to IR by Life Pixel last June to Super Color, which I believe is 590nm, or the Goldie Filter. I was able to take it out for about an hour or less right after I got it, but have not been out with it for the past few months because of some health problems my wife has had. Before this I was using an old Olympus C-2100 UZI IR sensitive camera with a R72 filter on it. It works great for B&W IR, but the camera only has 2.1 megapixel quality, so your enlargements are limited to about 8" x 10" pictures at best. I'm still expermenting with the White Balance on my new Canon conversion, and still trying different color conversions for the pictures that I took back in June. Thought I'd post a couple of different post processings that I tried.... Hoping to get out soon to try some new stuff. Whites in last picture are a little blown out. All can be enlarged.

Thanks Eric. I will have to look for this software. There are a few areas around here that I would like to try a pano shot.

I have two dogs but I make them clean up after themselves! LOL if only...

Jim,

I'm surprised a D3100 can't set a custom WB after the conversion, but I don't have a DSLR nor have I had a camera converted but Colin may be able to offer some advice. He's had more converted cameras than I have had cameras.

Post more soon, I want to see more of St. Louis ;-).
