I use the OpTech Sling. The strap attached at the camera lugs, not the tripod screw hole. Go to Amazon.

Look at BOS strap. Locally made in Boston. Very comfortable slude strap that leaves tripod mount free. Very secure attachment to camera.

I just purchased a new camera and I'm looking for the Manfrotto shoulder strap that has the clamps that slide up/down the strap and the opposing clamps that attached to each side of the camera.

All I can seem to find is straps that connect to the camera by the tripod threads.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to a good strong shoulder strap that does not connect to the tripod threads? I have the Nikon D7200.

Thanks,
Connie

I know you just said you don't want on that connects to the tripod threads but Manfrotto supports the Black Rapid strap. I have one and I think it is pretty good but I would suggest getting the M-Plate Pro also as it allows you to use a tripod and or a flash bracket without removing the strap. I have a Manfrotto mono-pod and a tripod with Manfrotto RC2 mounts and I have another tripod mount that is Arca-Swiss type and the M-Plate Pro works well in all of them.

Try the FastFire Camera strap. It mounts to the camera using one of the camera's lens strap brackets (right side). The camera stays close to your body and slides along the strap as you prepare to take pics. Leaves you hands free, but the camera secure. It is American made too. I tried a bunch of straps and this one was best. Good luck.

I use a Sunsnyper that I have reworked removing the screw mount and replacing it with a clip compatible with the rings on the camera. I had a problem with the shoulder pad slipping so I also made an under arm strap snapping to either side of the shoulder pad. Both problems solved.

A favorite with many is the optech sling strap. Attaches via the regular camera strap lugs and a quick disconnect.
Inexpensive and highly adjustable.

Question: Do you find the strap slides easily to bring the camera up to shooting position? On my Black Rapid all that slides is the carabinier attached to the camera.

I'm using the Peak Design Slide and the Joby Pro before that. Both straps slide with no issues and yes, the Peak Design is flexible in where the attachment points are. I have it attached to the RRS L bracket and one lug and it rides very well on my hip without swinging. So easy to completely remove the strap quickly if needed. Best strap I've used!

I use a Black Rapid strap with their FR-T1 that converts the Manfrotto quick release plate to strap ready. Very convenient in the field and while travelling.

I did that for a while then one day I wanted to use a flash bracket. I thought of several ways of modifying stuff but in the end I settled for the M-Plate PRO. No complaints so far.

Yes, .......or....change straps. I use the sling strap when hiking, long shoots, all day walk abouts, etc. Very comfortable and convenient. When I'm jumping in and out of the car (which I do frequently) taking shots at various lookouts, etc. or using the tripod, I switch out the sling strap in favor of Optech's wrist strap. Doesn't get in the way on the tripod. Best combo ever.

i use a black rapid strap, but put a ring on the camera where the strap attaches to it and hook the black rapid there. doesn't interfere with the quick release tripod plate.
i have also tried the boss strap, which also attaches to the side of the camera.

Connie, My D7000 and D750 came with shoulder straps. I'm surprised your D7200 did not come with a strap. I don't use them on either camera. I would prefer some sort of hand strap instead if there is such a thing. -FiddleMaker
