I just purchased a new camera and I'm looking for the Manfrotto shoulder strap that has the clamps that slide up/down the strap and the opposing clamps that attached to each side of the camera.

All I can seem to find is straps that connect to the camera by the tripod threads.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to a good strong shoulder strap that does not connect to the tripod threads? I have the Nikon D7200.

Thanks,
Connie

Does it not come with a strap?

Many different brands of sling straps, attached via tripod screw or by camera lugs.

Take a look at the Peak Design straps, They "sort of" connect to the tripod threads. It is a very well made strap that I have been using for about 8 months.

I second, the OpTechUSA sliding sling strap. Attaches to the two camera lugs, not the tripod threads. I wore it everyday while shooting on the streets of New Orleans. I doesn't slip or slide off the shoulder.

The Peak Design "Slide" is a high-quality, sturdy strap that connects to the lugs on each side of the camera rather than using the tripod mount on the bottom plate. The Slide is designed expressly for DSLRs and larger, heavier lenses. It can be configured in a variety of ways - as a neck strap, as a shoulder strap, as a cross-body sling strap and as a hybrid - your choice.

It appears it connects EITHER to the lugs or to the included tripod plate correct?

I currently use a Black Rapid. I like how the strap does not need to move, instead the carabiner & camera slide while the strap remains stationary on your body.

No need to replace my Black Rapid yet, but it never hurts to look around.

Question: Do you find the strap slides easily to bring the camera up to shooting position? On my Black Rapid all that slides is the carabinier attached to the camera.

That's the one that I use. The cool thing is that if you have more than one camera, you can get extra sets of Uni-Loops for about $8 and attach them to the other bodies and use the same strap. I have them on all my bodies.

I recommend OP/TECH USA's 'BINO/CAM HARNESS', webbing version.

Peak Design.....I have owned OpTech, Black Rapid, Cotton Carrier, and probably every other known strap....

Peak Design put it all together. Get the strap - and the Capture - and you will never have to remove a screw to mount your camera on a tripod. Further - they use an Arca-Swiss plate for their capture - you can go from carry to the tripod R.F.N. ( Right Frickin' Now )
ALL other camera strap systems allow you camera to "dangle" such that it can bang into stuff because of the pendulating.
The Capture allows you to mount your camera on a belt, or a bag's shoulder strap - and it dismounted pretty solid.

Look them up. www.PeakDesign.com plenty of videos too...
