If that's what they told you caused the damage to your lower "A" arms, they are full of crap, since your tires go over any speedbbump and the "A" arms are located directly above them. unless this speedbump is uneven in hight across the top, your "A"arms can't hit a standard speedbump at all. Any damage would be on your rocker panels and not the "A" arms or anti-roll bars. I can see how this scraping could cause body or undercarriage damage though. Is this vehicle lowered in it's suspension hight in any way? If it's standard hight, I think your garage may be liable for having excessively high speedbumps that cause vehicular damage. If you send me your email address, I have a video of a speed bump made in Germany that blows them all away.

It is the steep angle that the van goes up as it leaves the street, crosses the side walk and then down into the garage. I will post a picture soon.

Hey Diet, check out a salvage yard for an alternator, and battery. They are not hard to install. Your local library will probably have a chilton repair manual. You might save a lot of money. Hope this helps.

The Quest has front wheel drive, so the engine is tuned sideways. As the owner lives in a condo, no work can be done there (unless you are a board member). The lack of tools, bad back and just plain tied of messen with the old girl (van).

If this is a condo, then the association must have liability insurance and this problem must have plagued others. You should photo the entrance and ask other tenants about their issues with this vehicular entrance. If there have been other reports of this problem by other tenants, then you have a case against the condo for your repairs. However, I fail to see how this can damage your front or rear lower "A" arms since your tires and wheels seperate this assembly from the concrete surface and the distance from the "A" arm assembly to the road surface doesn't change unless your tire is flat. I could understand rocker panel damage though.
Seriously, Diet, you need to find a reasonably priced auto mechanic and brake shop and maybe a new place to live or at least park.

I always felt the the van was very heavy up front. Kind of over the barrel for the current repair. But no way will I be going back there. Most of the work I can do at my friends house. Just to far for AAA to tow it. the auto repair shops in the area like to say that they have to report the van to the police unless I let them fix something. I even had one say that he was going to call the Bomb Squad unless I let them do a flush. They said that water could explode. No idea how they were going to crack water?

Thank you for your interest in my problem.

Diet, I hope you reported your vehicle breakdown to the highway patrol or state police. If not, after so many days, it can be towed away and you' could be charged a bundle by another crook. I had no idea that your vehicle died on the road. Water can not explode unless you used heavy water and you're carrying highly radioactive material. LOL. That guy didn't listen in science class. At the least, you should get another alternator or have this one rebuilt. If the alternator died, you probably ran the battery down. Once you install a good alternator, your old battery should charge up fine, you just need a jump start to get the engine running. Then drive the vehicle to a MIDAS shop for an estimate for the ramainder of your repair needs. At least get 2 or 3 estimates. FIRST THING IS TO GET YOUR VEHICLE RUNNING AGAIN SO YOU SAVE THE TOWING BILL. Replacing all the belts can be done when you replace the alternator.
