MWAC;
What's a "HALFA"? Half-a-what? And $2000 for a clutch that really only sells for about $200 at most? You must have needed a new pressure plate, throw-out bearing, pilot bearing and fly wheel too. Ok, so add in about 8 hours or so of labor at $50 an hour. That still only comes to about $1000.

After market clutch assemblies (clutch, throw out bearing, pressure plate) could be $200. - $275. Flywheel could be cut unless there is extensive damage.

But the labor is extensive.

What model Nissan does he have anyway? I keep hearing about this Silver Pig but no model mentioned, unless I missed it.

Yes I do. But this is the first repairs the Pig has needed in 125,000 miles.

What have you been doing with this vehicle that it needs 2 lower control arms after only 125,000 miles anyway?
I can understand the belts, alternator, battery and the oil seals, but how did you destroy the lower control arms? And what model and year is this vehicle anyway?

Oh no, the Silver Pig needs $3082. bucks. Seems the old gal is in need of a new Alt and battery (only $900.) for that.

Then there is the matter of the High Pressure power steering hose, Both lower A frames, Fan belt, Top motor mounts, Front brakes, and Oil cooler seal.

Anyone know the winning lotto number that will be called?

Maybe I'll get a foam cup and stand in front of the Nissan Dealer.

Well it seems as per Nissan.com / parts, that a new Alternator is $417.34 and a new battery is $103.70. It appears that labor rate is going to be about $100.00 per hour.

It seems that new police officers make about $38.00 per hr. While LVN's make about $18.00 with RN's starting at about $30.00 per hour.
I wanted what are men / women in uniform, fighting in some dam hot desert, so oil will continue to flow, are making per hour?

Hey Diet, check out a salvage yard for an alternator, and battery. They are not hard to install. Your local library will probably have a chilton repair manual. You might save a lot of money. Hope this helps.

As long as the alternator housing is in good shape, the rotor, windings, bearings and diode bridge can all be rebuilt for under $150 or so and it can even be improved to put out 100 amps or more in the process. I suggest you stop going back to Nissan dealers for repairs.

Halfa is my Chevy HHR, to replace the clutch and all the other parts that go with you have to actually drop the engine out, don't worry I didn't get ripped off, I called ten mechanics got quotes from them all, they all where in the same ball park. I also called the Chevy 1-800 in my manual to confirm and talked to some members of the HHR forum to confirm the process for replacing my clutch.

Yea ok. That's one of the real problems with these newer front wheel drive vehicles. They can't be dissassembled as piece parts like engine, bellhousing, transmission and rear differential. Everything for locomotion is encapsulated in the front end and it has to be removed to replace internal parts.
I thought you were referring to an Alfa-Romeo and then your estimate would have had to come from some Hollywood Auto Shop where they romance the customer with frills and charge $200 an hour for labor. "RED CARPET RIPOFFS INC."

Well the damage done to the lower "A" arms would come
from the 2004 Nissan Quest being parked in a under street
level parking area. The van bottoms out every time there are
more the one person in it.

If that's what they told you caused the damage to your lower "A" arms, they are full of crap, since your tires go over any speedbbump and the "A" arms are located directly above them. unless this speedbump is uneven in hight across the top, your "A"arms can't hit a standard speedbump at all. Any damage would be on your rocker panels and not the "A" arms or anti-roll bars. I can see how this scraping could cause body or undercarriage damage though. Is this vehicle lowered in it's suspension hight in any way? If it's standard hight, I think your garage may be liable for having excessively high speedbumps that cause vehicular damage. If you send me your email address, I have a video of a speed bump made in Germany that blows them all away.
