WW II plane?

Saw this on our walk last night. It was a long way away when I spotted it but got a fairly good shot.

Thinking not that old... likely Viet Nam era.

Can envision it landing supplies in Cambodia, flying drugs out.

C-130 Hercules. After WW II. Jumped out of them in the 70s when I was in the army. 82nd Airborne.

Nope, not WWII. I think the designation is C- 123. I traveled many miles on a C- 122, which was a twin engine rescue plane. It was built like a tank and could land anywhere. Maybe built by Gruman ? We also used a C-124 which had four engines, but needed a prepared runway.

C-130. Current in the inventory of several air forces, I clouding the USAF. LOCKHEED is still manufacturing new ones, great aircraft, historically significant for sure. But not an antique in any meaning of the word.

The Lockheed C-130 entered service in the 50's (perhaps Korea) and with 4 engines was the big brother to the C-123. Did Medivac, Cargo, and some Gunship duty. Per this:

Just our of curiosity, did you even do a mass drop in Arizona in the late 70s?
