I also have the SEL18200 and just love it. Images are very sharp. I also have heard that the LE version is not sharp at all, so stay away from that one. I bought the SEL18200 used thru KEH and it is in mint condition. It is my walk around lens now.

All of those 18 - 200's are big heavy lenses. I have found the best walk-around, on a crop camera, is 18 to 55 or thereabouts. It gives you moderate wide to short tele, and most are fairly light and compact.

I have owned the newer version of the 18-200 for 2-3 years. All such lenses have trade-offs-- barrel distoration at its widest, fall off in sharpness at its longest, etc. They are minimal with the Sony and if you know that going in, you will be fine.
I use mine on the NEX 7 and find the balance is comfortable.

Got the SEL18200 and it is excellent. I would not recommend the LE version (poor image sharpness).

Thanks.. I believe you are the first to say you have the Tamron...Wondering how it compares with the Sony SEL18200
Take a look at the sony G lens. It is far superior in every way than their regular lenses. I use the G 24-105 f4 sel. All auto with stabilization. Amazing for video but I have used for portraits and walk around all the time with my A 6000. Continuous f4 is great for medium low light. With Sony clear image zoom , not digital zoom , can stretch your lens to over 200 mm

Thanks..Will ck it out..
I purchased the a6000 for low-light action sports and travel. For me, never saw the benefit of getting a small lightweight camera and attaching a long, heavy lens to it. A walk-around (for me) would probably be the 16-50 kit lens. Ideal combo for everything else? Probably the 16-70/4 and the 70-200 G F/4. I just do not have the confidence in a one size does it all type of lens.
Adding I use the 50/1.8 O.S.S. for my low light sports work.
Just wanted to add, I dislike the motorized zooms, preferring to control speed and focal length myself. Old habits I suppose.
