Math 78,
Very nice shots here-- looks like our quail ( New Zealand)- not a native.
By the way, how do I turn on the focus peaking with the a6000?
Cheers,-D.
Thanks for the compliments. I've decided the A6000 is a much better camera than the lenses that Sony has for it. I liked it a lot more once I got away from the kit lens. It's a great camera for old fashioned manual photography.
Focus peaking is called "Peaking Level" in the menu. You'll also want to customize the C1 button to be Focus Magnifier. That way, you can quickly zoom in and tweak the focus.
Your quail is a California Quail, a close cousin to the Arizona Gambel's Quail.
Cheers!

Hi Math78,
Thanks for focus peaking tips--I had got that far, but so far haven't seen any sign of it in the view finder --- is it only visible with manual focus, non sony lenses?
Yes, the two quail have similar appearances. The colourful bird shot I sent is a mountain parrot which I shot in a reserve. The birds are not enclosed and can take off anywhere, but have been banded to monitor their habits etc. Thanks again for nay help---David.

You only see focus peaking when you are in manual focus. Conversely, if you see focus peaking, then you know you are in manual not AF.
Ok, thanks for that-makes sense--D.
I concur with a couple of my fellow hogs on the
SEL18200 as best under $1000 for a great telephoto
lens for the sony e mount cameras.
It stays on my A6000.. my sony 16mm with the fisheye converter stays on my nex-7 ...the fisheye is the most
overlooked, underrated member of the e-mount
family of lenses, it's takes awesome photos. I have 6 lenses and the fisheye get the most favorable of all comments on
my photos even though it only produces about 5% of my pics.
Only about 8% of photographers (Popular Photography Magazine Survey 2015) say they own a fisheye lens, if this is you, do yourself a favor and give one a try, or not, just saying.
Thanks:)
