Marilyng Please understand about Jackinthebox, he's just out of the Attic and is having a little bit or time adjusting to civilized behavior.

Since I think you are not being sincere with your remarks to Marilyn since you blame her and not the camera I can and will not keep my fingers off the keyboard. As for a camera I hated, it too was a Canon. The powershot SD1400 IS digital elph. I bought it as a shirt pocket camera and it never took a decent picture for me. I used it 2 weeks and gave it to my daughter to try and she loved it.

jethro, " it never took a decent picture for me" said a lot about you.
So your wife is the smart one in your family, seeing your daughter could figure it out.

Now, you jumping in for Marilyn, she is a buckeye you know. Me too.
You really think you need to speak for others when you have trouble with a P&S? That is sad.

Did you try a tripod? Did you try to lay of the booze for a spell? How about drugs, legal and otherwise? Taking a deep breath and holding it while gently pushing the shutter button helped me with an sx40hs. Some of the best pictures ever came right out of that model.

Very funny,I guess I just like Nikon a whole lot better!!! I said it had to be me so I did what was best & sold it with no problem!

Although I wouldn't say "hated", this is the least-liked camera I've ever owned - the GE X400. Not so much for it's image quality, but because it's just not very user friendly. The menu is confusing and illogical, and the ergonomics are anything but good. The 4-second processing time between shots is annoying and tiresome. I think I would have more fun with a cheap Little Mermaids toy camera than with this thing.

Probably the worst camera I ever bought was a Canon A1300. I wanted a pocket camera with a viewfinder and this was the few available. Its image quality was poor even for a P&S. I gave it to my granddaughter who was 7 or 8 at the time. She had fun with it so it worked out well.

Strange... I have the following model, the A1400, and its image quality is superior to any other pocket camera I've ever owned. Many images I've posted here came from that very camera. However, the trick is to take it off auto-ISO and set it to a fixed low ISO to achieve good image quality with every shot.

I guess I am an outlier...I can't name a most hated camera. My first was a very old argus w/ fixed lens. I learned dark room skills in high school with it. Then I had a Nikon slr for several years. Then went to the Canon EOS line and never looked back. Went thru 2 upgrades ending with the Elan 3. Went digital twelve years ago with a 20D. Now with 5DIII. Have loved them all!

My worst camera was a 1970s Polaroid. The film tabs would pull off without the film coming out, the rollers would not spread the chemicals evenly, and so on. However, it was the camera that taught me exposure.

My most hated cameras are DSLRs. All of them. Big and clunky. Lenses way too big for useable focal lengths, and wide lenses always a problem. Even film SLRs are better sized than DSLRs.

I have been enjoying the 'most beautiful camera' thread here and it got me thinking about my first camera. A total lemon. In the late 60's I had saved up my paper route money and bought a Praktica. The shutter never worked right, everything was overexposed and after a month the camera store gave me a full refund after seeing me in there week after week. One of the employees had taken a liking to me and he told me about a used Nikon F that had come back from Vietnam and was pretty banged up. The prism was broken and a local camera repair man had it in his shop fixing it up and put a beat up FTn head from another abused camera on it. Cosmetically, my F was UGLY! But it worked perfectly and came with a 50mm f/2 lens. I went from a beautiful, shiny new Praktica that never worked right to a travel worn, pieced together old workhorse. I consider that Nikon F as my first real camera, I only got a few properly exposed pictures with that Praktica.
I have been enjoying the 'most beautiful camera' t... (show quote)

Back in the early eighties I had a pair of Nikon F3's both new, and both gave me trouble. I loved the way they looked, and my experience was not typical of the F3, but I became less than fond of mine. That's why I wish to this day that I had bought the Pentax LX instead, but I didn't. :-D ;) pith

I've never had a camera I hated, but my first digital convinced me digital was just a gimmick. Agfa ePhoto CL50, $525 in 1999, plastic body, 1.3 MP CCD, 3X optical zoom, 2" LCD, 2 second shutter lag, 8 second delay between shots, 15 seconds to playback. But it still works today as well as it never did. :)

It's not one particular camera. It's more of a format and a type of photographer that I dislike.

Full frame and novice/amateur photographers that should be shooting with a phone but act like seasoned pros.
