Pet peeve. It's not pronouced "off ten."
I'm with you on offen. Add to that, nu-cu-lar instead of nuclear, joolery instead of jewelry, reality instead of realty, could care less instead of couldn't care less. And I'll throw in all bird pictures and people who seem to have nothing better to do than to sit at their computers and forward stuff they think people would want to see. AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

Boy are you lucky if you have time to worry about often.

Who came up with this new phrase "looking to?" It's atrocious.
Hopefully it doesn't occur too often.

I'm afraid the fault lies on the shoulders of our 'Early English Fathers', who decided to put the "T" in that word, as many other words are messed-up because of similar methods of spelling. I've always been an advocate of the 'fonetic' (MY spelling), method but we're stuck with what we have I guess. It's so cold here one can easily contract NEWmonia! The BOARD of the company voted against the proposal but some of them were simply BORED, while on their way out moving the contractor's BOARD out of the way. They should have READ the instructions on how to exit.... I RED them! Oi Vey!!

"realty" is an American word for "estate agency". "reality" is something completely different.
Regional accents are somewhat delightful to hear. They are not in error its just their accent. Often (t) is proper. Hearing someone proficient of the English Language should remind us of how lazy we have become.
I do believe much more alarming is the inability of persons of a certain age group and up who just can not spell.
ie: I put my hands around her waste"

Oh, heck, Dave.....let's ratch it up a notch. The Jews conspiracy to take down the twin towers on 9/11 is indicative among their other hijinks of just how offten they will attempt to subject their will upon other nations to rule the world.
I thought you might be missing LP by now.
While we're at it, Steve, it's "ratchet it up", not ratch it up. "Ratch" is not a word. And who, by the way, is LP?
With so many folks texting these days, it probably lessens the need for spelling and grammar discipline. It's what we've become...

I have one to add to the list. It's so FUN, When I was growing up everyone I knew, including teachers who taught us this, that there was a modifier before the word fun as in it's so MUCH fun.
I'm probably wrong.
And while I'm at it, how about Li-BR-ary, not Liberry.

Best I can tell, it's just more of the "valley girl" genre that is so pervasive in pop culture. By changing the enunciation and emphasis of certain words and phrases they think they appear to be more astute. Probably just more "social engineering" by the mass media.
Good news is, it doesn't work on "real people."
the word interesting is also one of those words that a lot of people do not take the time to pronounce properly
int is not intrasting but inter-es-ting

Speaking, Sundancer, of poor spelling, cannot is one word, not two. Just like into instead of in to.
