Everything about this thread is rubbish. How many dialects do you have in the U.S.? one? In a modern world the dictionaries are continually rewritten - so get with it!

Good Lord I'm glad y'all can't hear me speaking. Growing up deep in the mountains I am pure hillbilly. Had to have an interpiture (hope I spelled that right) when I went to California. After I think about it anywhere I go everyone ask if I am kin to Snuffy Smith or Lil Abner.

Dave....Actually, that reminds me of my Dad. He's from a little coal mining town called Republic in W.Va., about 25 miles from his high school, Cabin Creek. Because he was a pretty good runner (18 t.d.'s in 8 games his senior year) and his buddy was all state, they went to Michigan to play football. I have a photo of Dad on a summer trip home with his Mom and dog. He's sitting down, not wearing anything but overalls, and one strap is busted. Talk about L'il Abner. I'll scan it one day and post it.
BTW...he said "offen," which is what his hillbilly teachers taught him.

Steve, I felt that sarcastic or not, referencing an ethnic conspiracy was not in the best interest of anyone. Probably a little touchy on my part. My apologies for my being at least an occasional a-hole. Keep smilin'.
