The day was sunny and cold. I used the Tamron 150-600mm @ 428mm and was 7 yards distance from the squirrel.

Great lighting - I like the photo

Thank you very much, kavner58. Lucky for me the sun was shining in the right direction.

Impressive focus. We feed these little critters so I'm always taking shots of them with my little Sony bridge. Nothing ever comes out as sharp as this regardless of how close I am, what ISO, shutter speed, or aperture I use. Duh, guess that's got to be at least part me but a lot having to do with sensor size and camera quality. At least I hope it is.

Thank you, cucharared. Generally speaking, the better quality cameras and lenses will give you better results including more sharpness, richer colors, better contrast, etc.

[quote=Regis] I always called trigger hairs so the squrrel knows when to close its toes around a branch.

Very interesting, 4x4Lee. I appreciate your information on this issue. It's hard to see the whiskers and trigger hairs until you take a good, detailed shot of these cute little squirrels. I thank you very much.

You don't see the detail of the squirrels until you take a close-up shot and see all the hair (fur) and whiskers. Amazing. I thank you, Low Lids, for your kind reply.

Superb detail! Appears he's giving thanks for the peanut and allows you that brief moment to capture his portrait. So cute.
