I'll be buying a new computer in the near future. Should I have windows 8 or 7 installed on the computer. I found out that some computer companies will only install window 8 because that is new technology. I've been informed that I can have no windows install and buy directly from adobe for window 7. What is your opening -lightroom users?
Easy...Mac OS...but that's probably not the answer you were looking for.
Thanks for the reply. Mac price is out of my price range. Already investigated price with mac verse PC. PC is roughly $400 more for exact same material that is in a PC that I'm looking at purchasing. Therefore, I'm going with a PC and getting more for the buck.

Thats a misnomer - you do not necessarily get more for the buck, but it is your choice ;)
I used to think the same way...
There are thousands, probably millions, running LR on both Windows 7 and 8.

Windows 8, or 8.1 in my case.
Then groom it to be the way you want it. That's what I did.
Because I want my computer to be all business and no bubble gum.
So I found my way around the Apple-esk desktop of Winderz 8, and built my own custom desktop that has what I want on it.
And my computer opens to that desktop.
Just the things I want to see, and none of the candy coated BS of Apps I will never use.
Windows 8 is fine, but people who can't run their own computer give it a bad rap.
You need to work to stay current, not pigeon hole yourself in dieing software that isn't supported anymore. No matter how comfortable it seems.
But of course, there is always Apple for those who never had a clue in the first place, or desire to have the Apple store work their voo-doo on their ailing machines....
Life is full of choices.

We won't judge you for choosing a PC...well maybe a little ;)

I run Ps Pse and LR on two computers 8.1 and 7 with no problems.

Same here. Use both, 8.1 on desktop and 7 on my laptop. No Issues with LR, or PS or Dreamweaver or any Adobe product.

Get Windows 8.1 - it's not difficult to learn.
And the added advantage over Win 7 is that, when Microsoft launches Windows 10 later this year, all Win 8.1 users will be able to upgrade for free. This facility will available to Win 8.1 users for 12 months only from the date of launch.
Lots of good info about Win 10 here .....

It really doesn't matter. Windows 8.1 is fine, and you can have it boot into the Classic Desktop, bypassing all the 8.1 tile garbage.
