According to the information I have read home users will be able to upgrade from Win 7, SP1 OR Win 8.1 free for one year from the release date of Win 10. You will need an Internet connection to do so probably so Microsoft can check that you have a legitimate copy of Windows.
This offer will not be available to business users.
Sounds good but I'll wait a month or two after the release to wait for them to shake the cobwebs out.

I'm already there...
I'm signed on the Insider Program.
So far, I like it!
I also liked Winderz 8 & 8.10, after I groomed it to my taste.
Windows 10 has seamlessly meshed with my computer as it is. And one thing I have noticed is a small jump in functional speed.
Why I'm not sure yet. Maybe do to fixing some registry errors, or maybe it just is.
After it runs a while on this desktop, I plan to install it on my Win 7 Toshiba laptop so both are running the same operating system.
I boldly go where others are afraid to follow. Afterall, I can fix it in the long run.
I'm also a developer user of Firefox browser.
Not the first time I've sat on the cutting edge and enjoyed the ride. ;)
YMMV

And I have been bitten in the ass in the past with FF yet is my default browser. I remember when you and the product had juvenile acne and outgrew it nicely.

Yeah, Doug. The hazard of sitting on the cutting edge is occasionally one gets cut off at the knees.
But I get back out there. ;)

I think you will find that micrdsoft will insist on you buying your upgrade to win 10 when they figure what the market will stand and also that 'it is not recommended for business users'
their words not mine.
I've got 8.1 and don't do shopping or buying apps or have a smart phone....thats a whole lt of this programme not getting used. In win 7 I probably didn't notice it was there - now I keep falling over it.
Win10 will be "free" for either 7 or 8.1 users, for a year. Then you start paying. I'm sticking with the OS's I own.
