I agree with with afore mensioned. We have a Wealth of very informative photographers on this site. Film I was on top of most everything, but digital Im just a babe in the woods. I thank you all for taking the time to explane things we can understang.

Man, what you talkin' about??? I agree 100%. With film, I did horse shows, weddings, babies. Digital is so much harder for me. I think we are in the perfect place to learn...maybe by the time I reach 100....

Perfect answer MWAC. We are all equal, in the middle and just trying to learn. By the way, with that answer you should run for president.

lmao - I'm Canadian, I'm not allowed to run for the US Presidency.

I wish you'd have been in my senior English class; you would have moved me up the curve a couple of points.

mentioned/mensioned
wealth/Wealth
explain/explane
understand/understang

If you're an antique like I am then I guess I'll have to forgive you by assuming these are merely typos. Otherwise, . . . .

Okay, I know.......I'm being a bad girl. Send me to the corner. with the Canon of course. I like when it shoots. ;-)

Why was this question asked? What is/was the standards that anyone is judging by?

This board has a lot of very beneficial questions and information and some not so. I normally don't respond to many questions but this one just couldn't pass. Is popularity and the amount of responses given to this board what makes a good photographer in your opinion?

What does answering questions have to do with being a good photographer unless you are judging involvement in a board as part of the measurement.
I agree with the person who said that a question such as this really doesn't belong and should not be asked. Why not just go to your social media site if you need a personal boost in standing?

Wahhhhh wahh

I just was interested in who people thought were the best photographers on the board. Totally reasonable question. I know I am not one of them, and it'd be cool to search for the names of the people most highly regarded so I could check out their work.

People need to lighten up.

Here we go, from favorite photographer to politics to Grammar police. I can't keep from laughing!!!!!
I love nothing better than correct grammar, but as long as I know what someone means, I let it slide. I made straight A+s from beginning to end in English, language and grammar ans spelling, but would have NEVER made a good english teacher. My face twists and curls every time I hear someone say "I ditten do that". Find that word in Websters.
I still make mistakes, always will. Now what was the question...oh yeah best photographer who shall remain nameless?

Who cares? honestly. you're asking someone to either bragg about themselves saying they're great or asking somone to "vote"for thier favorite. in my opinion rediculous. Perhaps a better question would be "whos got the most relevent experience?" or "Are there any photo members who run or have run thier own business successfully for more than five years", ya know, credentials. For that matter i've been taking pics for about a year now and I think I'm the "best photographer" on the board.

Well if i wanted to use the forum search to see who the most highly regarded on here are (ya know, so i can study their work) their experience or credentials wouldn't matter. I just wanted to know who people thought were the best. I find it interesting you called it "rediculous" to "bragg" about themselves, then said you are the best "for that matter".

Ridiculous.

We know you meant well, just that no one wants to leave anyone out. We could all give you a list of greats, just might be a good idea for a private list of who to search for, huh?
Thanks for trying. You got some great names mentioned

Honestly, if someone feels left out that they weren't mentioned on the "best" list on a photography message board, they should reevaluate their priorities. I'm guessing those listed as best (Nikonian, Alaskan, etc..) wouldn't have been offended if they weren't mentioned specifically because they care about their photography, and not about being popular on the site..

I do thank everyone for their responses though..

I know when I said feelings would be hurt it wasn't meant that someone NOT named would have their feelings hurt but more towards what I have seen happen before when threads like this happen.

one person says "Joe 1" is a great photographer then another poster comes along and says something like "Joe 1? really I think Joe 2 is better, Joe 1 has issues with w/b (or whatever)" then a battle starts and people start picking sides and all the poop hits the fan.

You know folks...every now and then...over the decades, I'd do a shoot or a story or something and start thinking..."you know, By God, I'm pretty GOOD! Perhaps the best at this stuff..." and every single time...one way or another...I'd get the living piss slapped out of my over-inflated ego...
I just keep doing the work and collecting the checks......when I can't work or no one will write me a check...well...I rekon' I won't be much of a photographer..............
