That didn't stop our current Kenyan.

that was neither necessary, honest, or kind.

But accurate....

That people continue to think so at this in point time can only mean that for whatever reason the idea of a bi-racial person - a black man - as our president is just so nauseating, so unthinkable, and so abhorrant to those who against all proof and all reason continue to insist that the facts are wrong and somehow only a handful of elitists, or conspirators, of which they are one, can see. To such a person the suggestion that they harbor bigotry and racism in their heart cannot be heard. Such person is simply too closed up, denial has become a way of life, and their minds can only see the same old tired and worn ideas they have always held. I hope this does not describe you?

I think I am squarely in the middle. There are some photographers here that put me to shame.

Naming who I think is the best serves no purpose but to hurt feelings and start debates so I will pass on that question.

I agree. This kind of question does nothing but cause problems. Besides, someone who does work I like may not do work someone else would like.

Everyone has different tastes. That why they make Canon and Nikon cameras.

...and many more. Mine, for instance, the Pentax K-7 (in repair) and my new Pentax K-5. My wife loves her SONY NEX-5N. Anyone remember Polaroid?

Impressive! 10 pages pretty much ducking the original question, and, inevitably, delving into politics.

:)

Not ducking the question, just stating the facts.

After having taken photographs for 55+ years and having seem some of the pictures you people have posted, I am convinced of four things:

1. My technical knowledge is old-school, but solid as a rock.
2. Anything I have sold or published has been the result of dumb luck.
3. On a scale of 1 - 10, as a photographer, I am a weak 0.5 (1/2)!
4. My typing and skill as a photographer are equal.

I have seen some great photographs on here and also read some great advice and that is fine enough for me.

The greatest thing about this site is "we Peons" get to rub elbows with the pro's on this board and learn while doing so. I don't think naming them serves any purpose and our pro's are good enough that they don't need ego boosts anyway. I write poetry and belong to a board that has some major published poets as members. They are as humble on that site as our pro's are on this site. Makes for quite a learning experience. When I say Pro I don't mean they earn their living from photography, although some do, I am speaking of their talent and knowledge. To me that defines a real pro.

Jmotes is the man on his Antique Auto Shots and Ivan is the tour guide for Alaska is for sure in my mind and There is Nikonian72 he is the master of Macro I think like others have stated that many of us learn some of the tricks of the trade by reading and watching the masters and I am one for sure I have come out of Auto on my camera and tried to get a handle on the other settings on the camera. So in my opinion guys keep it up the time that you take to lead us sometimes kicking in to the great world of Photography is greatly appreciated.
