It sounds like you are doing your homework and that would be my biggest recommendation.
I've only started my photography about a year ago but, most of the images on my flickr page are taken with the 7100 and Sigma lenses. They make even a newbie like me look good :wink: :-)

I have never bought a Sigma lens but I have heard and read some good reports on their lenses. I am checking into Sigma and Tamron lenses as real possibilities.
