The Busch camera books are a great and easy read. Large print and many spot-on illustrations you will need to get the most out of your camera WHEN YOU WANT IT. Topics are specific and to the point. This gent knows how to write.

Don't know how it compares to the other book mentioned but you might check it out. I also have a video tutorial by Michael Andrew named "D7100 Crash Course". It has some basic info on Photography in the beginning but then gets into most of the menus pretty deeply.

I have Nikon D7000 and a Nikon D5300. The Busch manuals are great I stay away from the Field Guide.
