So rather than lay in bed, wondered into the home orifice. Or my inside man-cave.
The stuff (video) the kids come up with is pretty awesome. Much is action stuff like at the river being towed, or cliff jumping.
I played around with video capture and trying to extract stills back when El Nino was going on (late 1990's-early 2000's) but was disappointed in the resolution.
I was thinking maybe these new HD cameras might work better.

Sometimes when a corporation looks like they are doing something stupid, it is because they are doing something stupid. It only takes a handful of inept executives to kill a brand. Just ask RCA.

I have never seen a Nikon being suggested !!
i have went to Nikons site and looked at them and read some specs {not an expert by any means} but they seem good!
i know i will get the Nikon haters, and yes your answers will be read also !! I was just curious!! :?: :?: :?: :?:

I bought a Nikon1 J1 kit with two lenses about a year ago at a price that seemed pretty good even for just the glass. I just upgraded the body to a V2 (UPS delivered it yesterday); yes, I know the V3 is coming out but the only difference I could see in the specs was that the V3 is 18 megapixels instead of 14. I think the processor is a bit faster too, but even the J1 seemed fast enough. I decided that the extra 4 megapixels didn't seem worth the $800 difference in price.

I don't have enough experience with the V2 to comment about it but my initial impression is quite favorable. It feels more secure in my hands and it feels more solid somehow. There's a lot of added or different features to learn about but at this point I'm quite happy with my purchase.

Then again, I like small cameras. I'm much more likely to take them with me when I travel. A big, heavy DSLR with an assortment of big heavy lenses just does not take good pictures when I leave it at home.

Go to Thom Hogan (Nikon guru for a long time) - he's got a great Nikon DSLR site, http://www.dslrbodies.com/newsviews/, and a sister site called "sansmirror" (French) and read up his views on the Nikon 1 system ....... and most other mirrorless systems too ......

Yeah - but it's his sansmirror site you need to take a good look at for "things mirrorless".

DSLRs have a pentaprism and moving mirror because the design is a holdover from designing cameras for film. Digital cameras do not HAVE to use this design. Nikon miscalculated the trends. Less than three years ago Nikon was saying that mirrorless cameras were a fad for consumers but would not be taken seriously by professionals. Obviously, this miscalculation is turning out to be costly for Nikon. Hopefully, it will not be a fatal mistake for the company.

In times of world recession and the pulling in of horns and tightening of belts and resting on past laurels - the first thing to go is R&D. At one time Nikon really only had Canon to compete with - now it's Sony and Fuji and others - even Samsung!

Perhaps Nikon is waiting for the electronic viewfinder to catch up to their standards. The current electronic viewfinders hav a lag time versus optical, small but real. Just guessing though.

Maybe because mirrorless sales were down last year?

What is their "Standard"? There are many other advantages to EVF besides lag time - and they are big and real. Nikon might have made an IBM and DOS type mistake.

I have an older MILC & an optional EVF (was over half of the cost of the Oly camera).... I find that the small size of the camera to be a hindrance with the size of my hands ... If they increase the size of the cameras, that negates one of the selling points...Like anything else, research prior to purchase needs to be done...

Very low budget review....Very low...
About a week ago, I got to hold a Olympus with a small lens. I thought it weighed about the same as my 7D with the 17-55 lens. The biggest problem I had is it was hard to hold in my right hand. I'm not a big handed guy. Just, not enough bulk for me to hang onto confidently, without worry of slipping out of my hand. I know, neck strap...
Snap Shot Guy...

Don't know what you got but I got a Canon EOS M and had the same issue. One of these pretty much stopped my concern: http://www.amazon.com/Fotodiox-Olympus-Mirrorless-Digital-Battery/dp/B00N1Z7WOI/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417710314&sr=8-1-fkmr2&keywords=add-on+grip+for+Olympus+mirrorless
