Well, this response is a bit out of character for me, but I cannot stop laughing... But, I guess you got folks to see your moose photos..They really are nice compositions, but seem just a bit blown out or overexposed, mostly on the antlers..... I really do forgive you for using my name.. I am over it .. Smile, life is short.... :)

I'm glad you said something about the moose being a bit light because I've been wondering about my monitor lately and while I don't usually comment on the images of others unless I really like them, I've been wanting to tell you that all your images look real dark to me. We both may need to do a monitor check. Thanks!

Man, I hear you and you should feel really lucky that you didn't start this stinkin' thread and need to be courteous and reply to everyone who thinks they have something to say that might change my mind. Ain't nobody as bored with this crap as I am. Last I heard you folks north of the border have about all the same freedoms as we do here in the States. Did you come in this time so I could direct you to the "unwatch" button? Are you feeling lonely and want to talk to someone or are you just here again because I ignored your comment the other day? I know I've probably got some of you fooled into thinking I'm a person who likes to talk a lot but on the contrary, I'm really not very conversational at all but I do have to tell you before you go any further, you're not my type but I do recognize that you're probably a cool old dude. I have to hand it to you though, you sure do shoot some exceptional landscapes.

I got to say your one ornery old bugger and you ain't my type of guy either. I think it's fair to say that you and I could never be buds. That said, I do have more respect for you now than I did at the beginning of this dam thread. I'm sure that if most of the members voiced their displeasure with this thread that you would still stick to your guns and that's ok by me.
I'm not sure what our freedoms have to do with anything. No such thing as freedom. It's just a word to calm the masses. As for the un watch button I could give a rats ass about it. Whatever make you think I give a dam. And speaking of rats, how many of us did you rat out to Admin or did you even bother because you might embarrass yourself for such a trivial complaint. I hate that word complaint. It reminds me of something that a bored miserable old man would do. Anyway, I'm done here and you can block me now or do whatever it is you do. By the way thanks for the compliment. You are a crafty old bugger. One more thing. I need money so If you have any extra, just pm. me and I'll tell you where to send it. Three grand should do it. I would prefer a cashiers check. If you don't send me the money our friendship will probably go downhill.

Now Ronbo, this is not all for you here so don't get over-excited too quick. Some of it is for general uhh consumption, but, Moi? miserable? au contraire! I'm probably the most un-miserable geezer in uhh. Occasionally a little ornery, perhaps... but you're right about the "buds" thing 'cause I don't do buds with "twigs and berries." For any of you ladies who feel like I might have been giving you a hint in my last comment about "buds," I am getting some pm's but not what I would call a big flood right at this time so I'll just let you know that there is no waiting on isles 2, 9, or 17.

Ronbo, the unwatch button, if clicked, would spare you from any future notifications that there was yet another comment in this demented thread hence, allowing you to ignorantly and painlessly avoid a notice to return here like the fiend you have been, soaking up all this fermented nastiness.

"Rat you out to Admin?" You really missed the point of this whole thing. I ratted you out to the world as well as to Admin, but not under the cloak of privacy as you might surmise but rather openly as you seem to have noticed, as witnessed by your very presence, and to hell with Admin. I came right up over the ridge like Rambo, guns jus' a-blazin... nothing sneaky going on here. Admin loves a good donnybrook and seems to have encouraged several over the course of time, simply by an indulgence of a "grab and run" mentality on the part of some of the members here. I do fancy a nice bit o' "laissez faire" style of management and uhh is about as good as it gets. Admin could care less as long as the advertisement dollars keep rolling in and that's not a quote but still, it is the other members who should be of concern to you, not Admin. Incidentally, while my real aim was at the few who perpetually post so many threads day in and day out not the occasional multiple poster like yourself. I just grabbed some names from the past couple of weeks and as it happens you fell in that group somewhere although you are not one of the chief offenders.

I have received some pm's in support of what I've said here from folks, much more pleasant than my "miserable" self perhaps, or just more timid, expressing how this has been the subject of many a conversation with their friends in uhh with nobody wanting to step forward and take the guff from those who would presume to continue with their self-serving tactics of dominating the picture gallery every day with, often, and unlike yours, images that are less than stellar, like yours and a couple of others.

Here's some of the comments from pm's I've received and to ensure you that I am not a stinkin' sneaky dirty rat, the sources will not be revealed:

"I know administration just goes on at a certain time and randomly picks 35 posts that are current, but it would be nice if they could take the time to just pick one from a poster!"

...and: "I have mentioned this to a few people before about people posting 10 times a day and only 1 picture per post, and most of them are what I call FACEBOOK type shots! This has gotten away from a photography site and become a facebook site!"

...and: "I just can't see how many of these people totally don't understand what you are trying to tell them, yet they want to argue with you, like the guy you pointed out who only gets a few looks to his posts, because they are immediately buried 3,4,5,pages back!"

...and: "Somebody better get them gol-dang claim jumpin' suckers under control 'fore I get my 12 guage oiled up here."

...finally, from almost every pm I have received: "I usually don't get involved in these kinds of posts, but I just wanted to let you know I get it,and you are right!"

With regard to that first quote, and it's too soon to make a determination, but I am analyzing the numbers from the first of this month for each day, including each thread, who submitted it, what time, and how many threads that person submitted each day and for the month through to the end of the month and while it's early in my analysis, it is beginning to look as though the picking of the threads for the Digest is somewhat random after the regular daily UK participants have posted. The UK, Oz, the Kiwis, India, and all other points east of the east coast of the U. S. and Canada seem to be considered first and it is likely that most of total submissions from those countries are put in the Digest although the total membership from those places is more recent and disportionately less of the total participating membership from the U. S. depending on whether or not one of the UK members is "on holiday" but even then there can be a flood of holiday pictures in multiple threads as we are currently experiencing.

Then comes the U. S. and the selections appear to be in order by regions, perhaps time zones, east to west and weighted along the approximate lines of the population demographics in the U. S., in general although there can be misconceptions about that even since the Census Bureau numbers are educated estimations. There seems to be no relationship between how many members of uhh there are from each zone or how many actual photographers are in those 4 U. S. zones. It varies from day to day but the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Africa, India and miscellaneous other countries seem to provide about 10% of the Digest Picture Gallery threads while the east coast of the U. S. with its saturated population represents about 50-60% +/- of the daily submissions to the Digest. The midwest zone of the U. S., about 20%, the Mountain Time Zone getting about 5% and the Pacific zone, our second most populated zone, gets the remainder or about 20-25%. I have no idea how many illegal immigrants, aliens, or Isis members are submitting threads so I cannot offer a count on those segments. But just remember now, "there's lies, then there's damn lies, and then there's statistics," so keep that in mind.

Unfortunately, stating one's location is not a "required field" so we don't know what the actual distribution of photographers is geographically and how each section of the world is represented by the uhh membership and use that percentage rather than what demographers say the total population is spread out across the U. S. is so it's too early to tell who the winners are at this time. I will say that it ain't lookin' so good for those of us in the Rocky Mountain region where, I would point out, there is an OVERABUNDANCE of photographers in the U. S. because that's where an overabundance of magnificent outdoor scenery and wildlife exists relative to other parts of the country. There are probably more photographers in zone 3 per capita than anywhere else in the country, if not the world and we are allocated the smallest percentage of threads in the Daily Digest "show and tell" section from Montana to New Mexico and either side of a line that includes the most scenic part of the country. Of course, it's not all about scenery and wildlife but, hmmm!

The Rocky Mountain region has untold numbers of snow-capped peaks and wildlife while in Florida there is only beach and swamp and the critters that hang out there, although it is very nice beach and swamp, mind you, and it does explain how we get so, so many shots of beautiful egrets while the critters we find on the beach often seem to object to a little photography. Between Florida and New Mexico we mostly get flowers, cats, and dog pictures, now and then a lovely image of the family pets or the gazebo in the backyard or the local parks but not a single photographer seems to live in Stuttgart, AR which is the duck capitol of the country, if not the world. I've been to Carlisle and lived all over and even spent 3 years in the UK so I know that while they don't have a moonscape like Monument Valley or a big crack in the ground like the Grand Canyon, or a big dome like Yosemite, they do have things other than tits and sparrows. I also know that the sparrows are much easier to get your hands on and to photograph than are the tits otherwise we would surely see more tits than sparrows. With the relative scarcity of tits, it's little wonder that we see many more sparrows. When I was in the UK, budgies were all the rage and now it's just poor lil' ol' sparrows and an occasional tit, apparently. Pity, really! I could go on but I digress...

Back to the point, I read recently that the polling companies have surveyed and have said that when the public voices a position on an issue of controversy that for each person who speaks out there are approximately 500 silent voices that are represented for those who do speak out. Of course, in this instance it looks like we may be dealing with an abnormal situation where close to 50,000 aren't speaking out probably influenced by the fact that many of them, who cannot resign membership, have moved on for lack of the ability to participate in "show and tell" due to the, er, uh, "hedgehogging" of the opportunities, if I can be permitted to use that term.

Now, I reckon I have made either all the enemies or friends I'm likely to make with this thread so I'm going to vacate this thread now and take my bicycle out for a little trail riding and record some video that I may put on youtube or vimeo but I don't think I'll be running the high country mountain ridges in Moab today so I won't bother to share my videos with anyone other than family so please don't ask. Whatever happens, have a good day everybody. :-)

Here's a little update on the crowding at the isles, ladies. There's now no waiting from isles 1 through 20. In fact, upon closer examination, all the isles seem to be closed and not taking any new customers, er, uh, clients. :XD: :D Adieu! Adios! Au revior!
