I agree completely. Dumbest marketing move Adobe EVER made was to use "Cloud" with their product. Causes more brain freezes than ice cream on a hot summer afternoon.

Yes, agree 100% - was just thinking exactly the same thing.... probably made up by the same geniuses that came up with all the new laptop/tablet, or tabtop/laplet commercials! :D :D

Moral...buy the software and keep it on a local network. can't see there being much difference between the last photoshop on disk and the cloud version. PLUS your pics get stored on the cloud if you don't stop it (Same with Win 8 - another good reason to change it)

If your computer crashes you can re-install if s%$t happens in the cloud or the terms change....?

Its early days so I think I would wait a little while and see how things progress

Totally incorrect. You still download the rather massive program to your own computer. There is an option now rolling out for Cloud based storage. The new CC merely gives you a subscription to the latest version of whatever you subscribe to for a fixed price. Basically for the photo package, you have the current version of PS and LR for $9.95 per month. Over a 5 year period, that's less than the cost of PS.

Wise. I went with the cloud of a year ago. No glitches. Access to updates and other useful information on website.

I am considering signing on to the Adobe cloud, primarily to use Photoshop. Would welcome comments on the wisdom/folly of this.

Why anyone would think this concept is the greatest thing since sliced bread is beyond me.

As far as whether it works or not, without problems, is not an issue with me, or anyone else who doesn't like it. There are other subtle issues that irritate me, as well as others.

An article for your perusal.

At least the article is clear on what CC really is, although it is dated 5/10/13 - how did that petition do anyway?

A year-and-a-half-old article that was written before the $10 Photography deal was created, and actually makes our point anyway: "For example, a four-year subscription to Creative Cloud will cost new users about $2,400 — assuming the price doesn’t go up. A copy of the Creative Suite 6 Master Collection plus one upgrade at the current price would cost $3,650."

buying photoshop is a fairly major expense ... hundreds of dollars. For $10/month you get photoshop and lightroom plus a bunch of other related progs.. they are on your computer(s), and you store your photos wherever you want with on the cloud being an OPTION not a REQUIREMENT. For this you get all the updates... and there are several rounds of improvements each year... so you always have the latest and greatest and never have to outlay a large sum of money at any time to upgrade. It's a fair deal as far as I'm concerned....

Well, Don, the fact that Adobe jammed the subscription software model down the throats of those that wanted to drink the Kool-Aid, it looks like it went nowhere.

It doesn't take much to find the valid and recent negative comments regarding Adobe's decision. The age of the article is irrelevant. It's the business practice that is the same. It's like saying Newton's law of gravity is a couple hundred years old so it doesn't count anymore.

As for PS / LR I've got the latest purchased versions. It will be years before I even start to consider a subscription due to the inability of those programs to do what I need them to do. Adobe is still updating ACR for new camera models. So, why go with any other software?

There will always be people who feel they have been "ripped off" or have issues with business practices, but "bidness" is "bidness"....either it will pay off for Adobe or it won't.

I am happy right now as a CC subscriber, as long as there are no drastic changes I am fine, if it gets to the point that it is too costly in some way, there are alternatives.

change is hard for some people!! I for one like the cc, it allows me to have a $900.oo program for $9.99 a month. which I would not normally be able to own!! it looks like this conversation will turn into one of those "Nikon vs cannon" things !! my $0.02

No, it's totally relevant, because as I've already stated the article was written before the $10 Photoshop deal was created.
