I'm very glad you are happy, I'm not saying you should not be. If it were me, given the issues they have had, I would want to know all I could about that issue. But I understand the mentality that if I deny issues, then those issue don't exist. I understand they may not truly exist for you, but to deny a very well documented issue is a little silly.

As I said I too was waiting for this lens, the NIkon mount, but during my wait and research found the Canon issues. I still wanted the lens, I was making the assumption that the Nikon would not suffer the same focus issue because it was worked out in the Canon release. I would still be on the list to get it today, except they could not give a ship date for Nikon, and I have a reason to need it in July. So I went with the Sigma instead.

I can not deny this well documented issue if I or anybody else hasn't heard of it. I was given a link, by another UHH member, to show the issue but when I tried this link, there was nothing.

I have followed this closely since I have the Nikon mount on order. I just hung up with Brian at Tamron. The Nikon mount will begin shipping May 15th.

Umm, I clicked that link and it worked for me. Maybe you have a browser issue. Perhaps try to clear your cookies, or change the security level. If you have another browser, maybe copy and paste the link to that browser.

I know some stores have a long line of customers ahead of us, so wonder what the real delivery date would be? I've been told it was fist come first serve, but was unable to find out how many ahead of me, so if you order, thats one question I would ask.

Ok. I got the link to work and I did some reading and I found, to some degree, the owners of the cameras were not using the al servo mode correctly or were getting mixed results. I have no problems with the Canon 6D and I have talked with the 7D camera people and they do not have any problems with using the al servo mode. So, this could be a good or bad copy of this lens problems, but it is not a ton of evidence to support the issue that there are major problems with the Tamron 15-600mm focusing situation from what I have read.
I have read the same or similar issues with the Canon 100-400mm lens.

Im not looking to get into a debate but a friend an I both got a 150-600mm a couple days apart. I shoot a 7D and had slow focus and at times (low contrast) it would not focus. my friend shoots a 1Dx and also had focus problems after updating his firm ware most of his focus issues went away. it is still slower then his Canon 100-400mm.
I returned mine, he still has his. I love my 100-400mm

Yes some owners were not using it correctly, and the issue seems to be related to certain bodies. But digging deeper found that Tamron did stop production for a time. It's not clear how long that was, 1 day or 1 week. To their credit lens were replaced, at least by the stores they ordered from, and I assume by Tamron.

It's often hard to get cold hard facts about these things as companies have no incentive to publicize these issues, and they have entire departments dedicated to controlling public data. and who can blame them. Also most anything can be posted on the internet, generally there is no fact checking. In the end as long as they take care of their customers thats all I care about. I would have that lens today if I knew I could have received it in time for my trip in July.

Curious if you returned for an exchange, or a refund. I've seen 4 or 5 people on boards like this that have returned for exchange. The only thing they were disappointed in was the amount of time it took to replace. I guess that would be an expected result if Tamron was working on the issue however. Sending out a second bad lens would probably be worse than the wait.

I exchanged for a refund. it was a local store and they gave me a full refund. if they gave any problems returning it I would have kept it.
in the lens defense, the image stabilization work extremely well, and images were very sharp. I was hand holding @ 600mm at shutter speeds slower then I should have been shooting and still getting sharp images. it just focused to slow for what I planned on using it for. if I wanted to shoot bears, moose, etc. things where you have a little time to focus it would be a great lens.

Well, I just hope they fix these problems that other people are having. I don't have any issues with mine. It's the best lens I have ever owned.

I went ahead and paid for mine early in February. I have been guaranteed the first one that comes into the local store. They got a few of the Canons on first shipment so it is a pretty good bet they will get at least one Nikon mount. Hope I'm not disappointed.

You won't be.

Nice Regis...looking forward to moon shots, plus I live near Lake Mattamuskeet where water fowl and other wildlife is abundant. Always got good shots with my D5000 and a 300 mm, so my D610 and 600 mm should reel them in a little closer.
