i e-mailed Laura Craft, marketing specialist for Tamron this past week. here is her reply "The Tamron 150-600 Nikon mount lens will begin shipping in the US in mid May. Please note that this is a limited quantity release and availability will be limited. Orders are being fulfilled in the order in which they are received so if you are looking to obtain a lens I highly recommend getting your name on a pre order list, if you have not done so already."

What does she mean by "limited quantity release and availability will be limited?" They're only going to make X number of them and that's it?

It would be nice if you were a bit less beligerent. I saw nothing to indicate that anyone was anti Canon. Lighten up.

Purely speculation on my part but it would seem they make the Canon and Nikon versions on the same assembly line but can only run them separately. They have shipped some Canon's and they are now making Nikons. They will make so many Nikons then go back to making some Canons and then switch back to Nikons, then Canons, etc..

Like I said speculation on my part but it makes sense unless they can produce them both at the same time. I don't think it means they are going to make just so many then stop. But then what do I know?:-)

I did. Her response. "The production of the Canon mount 150-600 has not halted. I can assure you that the production of the Nikon mount will have absolutely no bearing on the production rate of the Canon mount."

I also gave her the link to this and the other currently active 150-600 thread. Don't know what she will do with the info. She might join and reply or just monitor.

FWIW, One of the Gals I work with spoke with Tamron yesterday about one of her lenses which she wants to have serviced. While on the line, she asked when they expected the Nikon mount 150-600 to ship here in the US. The Tamron person said they could not give out a date or time frame for the release. Our gal pushed a little more in conversation saying that she has heard a May, a June, and a July release and asking which would be more likely. According to her, the Tamron person told her "I can only say that if I gambled, I wouldn't bet on any of those months". Looks like I'm picking up a Sigma for the Summer. :/
