I would never have thought of that!

Just posted this one on another thread talking about long exposure, taking in the morning towards the west before sunrise f/9 ISO 100 30 second exposure. Is this what your talking about?
PS. we have small waves in the gulf

Why do people add their vacation shots to someone elses site??? I thought the purpose was to coment on their posted work, not blow your own horn. If you want yours reviewed, start a new topic, don't hog someone elses.

If you read the beginning of the thread it reads: Anyone out there have some silky waves. I think this was an invite to show my related image.

Waves like it crisp but blacks2's version works.
Falls and rivers like silk, depends on the light
and mood. Anyway, Bravo. Bv
Oh yeah, break all the rules.

I shot three shots in a row to catch the motion of the waves. I liked to catch them in "mid step"

When capturing an image containing the Ocean, what opinions are there whether the shutter should be slow to blur the waves (like a waterfall) or keep them more crispy?

Here's an example of crispy (more or less). Anyone out there have some with silky waves?

when at the ocean i allow the ocean to suggest to me how she wants to be photographed.....and a + is that since the subject determines the composition and other conditions when it doesn't work its not my fault...
On the other hand when it does work I can really claim credit either.

Just a different way to think about your question

IMHO, this is a VERY subjective subject. I feel the artist (photographer) should capture several different images (using the camera as a tool) and post what they feel represents what was seen.

Hello everyone,

Here is a silky water shot at dusk. 13 sec. f/16 ISO800.
The water was slightly turbulent.
