I look at magazines that publish the kind of photos that I have. I get the phone number out of the magazine and call them and tell the person that answers the phone that I have some photos that I would like for them to consider using in their publication. I ask who I need to talk to about getting the submission guidelines and who I need to send them to along with the address. Usually I am then transfered to the person that I need to talk to. They usually ask what kind of photos I have and let me know if they are interested in seeing them. If they are then I get the information and send him/her my photos. Ofcourse there are other steps in between. If you would like more information on my other steps, e-mail me and I will give you step by step on how I do it. Good luck.....

I will put together my list on paper first over the weekend so I don't miss something that might help you and then get it to you as soon as I am done. Need any more help just let me know. Thanks
Even though I have been in 5 different newspapers hundreds of times, a few magazines, photos for the local chamber of commerce brochure, etc., I think this is somthing many of us would be interested in. Everyone would appreciate it.
I know I would

I have had some of my stuff published too...but all for free or some minor exchange.

the advice about the magazine is exactly how I got two feature stories with lots of photos in the BMWowners news magazine.

This is about as good a brief summary as one could write.

It starts with, KNOW THE MARKET.

Cheers,

I am so pumped for 2012. This is going to be a great year.

Don’t get me wrong -- Breakfast Stock Clubbers accomplished a lot in 2011.

Dozens of readers wrote in to celebrate their first time submitting to an agency and their first stock photo sales. If you were one of them -- congratulations, that’s huge!

And if you still haven’t made that first step, I have something in store for you that will get you up and running in 30 days or less. More on that soon.

Now it’s a whole new year and I’m more excited than EVER to take and sell stock photos with you in 2012.

This week I took a look back at my stock photo progress. Here’s what I found:

• In 2010 (the year I started) I made 217 total sales across agencies.
• In 2011, I made 848 total sales.

Which means that now I’ve made over a THOUSAND sales -- woo hoo!

Since I uploaded more photos and learned more through the year, my total sales in 2011 went up nearly 300% above 2010.

Keep in mind, I'm doing this all in my spare time (which is in short supply), and I'm not doing anything you can't do. And since I plan to upload and learn even more this year... I’m hoping it’ll go up another 300% or more in 2012.

My new goal for 2012: Make it to 4,000 total sales.

Here’s to more fun, more sales, and more income in 2012.

Happy New Year!

-- Bonnie

On the Breakfast StockClub Facebook page, I asked Breakfast Stock Club members, “What’s your stock photo goal for 2012?” Here’s what they said:

From Della Kurtz: Actually get started!!!!! lol

From Peter Harklau: I second that!

From From Hope Gold: figure out how to price my photos and who will purchase them

From Sharon Russell: Works for me.

From Kinne Bassett: Getting more than the one photo I have on stock!

From Tammy Winand: making my first sale! I am very new at this!

From Kelli Knapp-Brito: make my first stock sale... and my 100th!

From Ian Clark: First one!

From C Bob Hendley: Personal sales and stock sales.

From Sue Stevenson: Like Hope, pricing and customers will be my focus... I have probably taken 1500 photos in 2012 so far, which I am pleased about... of big surf, beach, sun and snow scenes... a lot of fun!

From Martha Albanese: Take at least one pic every day, so far so good... then make my first stock sale.

From Caroline Maryan: Get back to uploading!!! Then, have a large enough portfolio to receive a monthly check from each site! (Whew... saying that took courage!) I better get to work!!!

From Elizabeth Coughlan: Concentrate on building my stock portfolios, and submit travel photos to magazines.

Of course, a few years ago, I used to say that Police Departments were grabbing kids from middle school and giving them guns and badges, because they were getting younger - heaven knows I was staying the same age (for 20 years).

 Snowbear,,,, I concur and its not fair,

I sure will post it on here for everyone. I am glad so many of you are interested. Some areas of the country people have to call the places and get transferred, here in my area it is done just a little differently.

Our local newspaper publishes readers photos a few times a week. Check with your local paper. Do it soon, we will not have much print left.

I am just getting started in all of it really. Just started shooting this summer. I mostly do portraits. Babies, Children, maternity and newborn for the most part. I have done a few outdoor photo's and love that too. I mostly focus on portraits though.
