Does anyone have any advice on how to try to get a photo published? Where or what channels to go through?

What do you mean by "published?" I've had several used on various websites and blogs; they were posted in a royalty-free stock & reference photo web site. If you are referring to newspapers and magazines, write to the editors and inquire what type of photos and stories they are looking for.

If you mean published in a book form (even if you get it done) then Adorama does an AMAZING job for not a lot of money.

I maintain that it's not us (ever so slightly) older people that get confused, but rather the younger ones that make things confusing!! ;)
Of course, a few years ago, I used to say that Police Departments were grabbing kids from middle school and giving them guns and badges, because they were getting younger - heaven knows I was staying the same age (for 20 years).

I don't think it is you, I think my question was incomplete! I am interested in getting a few prints published. Not an album. At least, not an album yet ;)

Amateur Photographer magazine in the UK publishes many readers' pics every month, from all over the world: take a look at http://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk/
If not there, where else? You have to read the publications in which you want to be published, or you won't know what they want...

I have been published already. What type of media would you like to be published in? Magazine, Newspaper, Website?
I have had my work published in a trade magazine and also in the local newspaper. My work is also on a couple of websites currently.
Let me know and I would be more than happy to walk you through the steps that I have taken to get published.

Even though I have been in 5 different newspapers hundreds of times, a few magazines, photos for the local chamber of commerce brochure, etc., I think this is somthing many of us would be interested in. Everyone would appreciate it.
