Your disdain for our president is so obvious, even in situations that he has little if anything to do with. Don't you remember 6 years ago? Golly.

You know, people are still mad that Eisenhower did not come to the rescue of the Hungarian revolution in 1956. I presume that the commanding general of D-Day knew just a little about the logistics of sending and supplying an army over such a distance.

We may be frustrated over Putin, but what can be done? I don't think Ike would go to war over it any more than Reagan would have.

Ironic, isn't it, that the world went to war when Germany invaded Poland, then at the end of the war Russia occupied Poland and wouldn't give it back. All those millions of deaths and Poland wasn't a free country when it was all over.

During the Reagan years it was fear of the US military that kept the peace.
Now it's fear of al qaeda and Russia that is causing chaos.

This isn't the end, other countries will be emboldened. Watch the Chinese as they decree that land outside their borders was always theirs. This is history repeating itself, just different players.

It will end like it always has, when people have had enough. Weakness is always the cause of wars. You don't start a war with a guy who can punch your lights out, and especially a whole room full of them, you pick on the little guy trying to look the other way and figure no one will notice or have too much to loose if they stand up.

Amateur hour.

Hey guys - lets remember that we all attended the winter paralympics in this guy's country - a week ago while he was sounding off - with no talk of a boycott. It's a political world and we all act in our own polical interests. Without excusing him in any way, can I remind you all that your president Kennedy blocaded Cuba because Russia was seen to be encroaching into your back yard (I think the expression used was "Your sphere of Interest" and yet we won't give russia any assurances that NATO wont do exactly the same on Russian borders. The guy is a bully and he may well need to be handled sooner rather than later but he's doing what he thinks is right for his country - perhaps we should think that through

I agree with your point of view with the exception of the bully stuff. He is not a bully, he is a very smart guy and is doing, as you say, what is good for his country, not what is good for big money or corporations........

With all due respect, you are naive to think this is it. I am willing to predict that China, already sabre rattling over various areas in the China Sea, as well as Taiwan, disputed islands that the Japanese see as theirs, etc., etc., will view this episode as a waning of America's history of intervening where atrocities against humanity occurred. That said, she will begin to display hegemonic behavior in the region, realizing we have become a paper tiger.
Let's not forget that the US wanted to impose a number of sanctions on various rogue states, but was overruled every time by the Security Council, thanks to Russia and China joining forces.

The EU has too many entangling economic alliances with Russia, and the EU is not about to jeopardize these. Putin knows this and is acting with impunity.

Until the EU grows a set of balls, and steps up to the plate, I'm afraid nothing will happen until Putin makes a move on a former soviet satellite that has joined NATO.

By then it will be too late.

Putin??? Frack him.....literally!!!
A major increase in the "rig count" would go a long way in alleviating that problem...IMHO!

Take away his biggest trump card....oil and gas to the EU.
You're probably wondering how we could do that, but I think you already know the answer.

:-)
