Nikon keeps on releasing new prosumer cameras, RED cameras, and $1700 lenses that allow you to shoot in the dark... Well I've decided that untill Nikon comes out with a new PRO-BODY DX model, I'm going to keep my money in my pocket, refine my skills snd keep shooting with my most excellent D300s !
Hey Nikon, Put that in your pipe and SMOKE IT !

Very nice shots, I really like the last one. Lighting is wonderful.
What's your problem with RED cameras?

Nice. My D300 images never looked that good.

Going for every new upgrade is not prudent unless there are features that you want enough to spend the money.

Just because there's a new model out is not a good reason to run out and buy it! Especially if it's only marginally better than the one you already have.

As for red cameras... personally, I'm getting a little tired of black cameras. They have been the dominant color of better cameras since the mid 1980's or so. I'm not sure if red would be my thing, but I certainly wouldn't mind an elegant-looking brown colored camera.

I know Pentax has a lovely brown one and I think Nikon does as well.
Nothing wrong with changing colors as long as the camera is up to what you want. I'm an old lady, don't have to impress anyone.

I'm still shooting with my D90 and am quite happy, thank you. :)
SLR sales have dipped over the past few years and I think this is exactly why. Consumers are beginning to realize what they have is fine, are tired of continuously buying "the next big thing" and the camera companies are running out of tricks.

With all the options I'm seeing for the future (advsanced DSLRs, Mirrorless, mega-megapixel and full frame compacts), I think I'll just hang out with my D90 and wait for the industry to make up its mind.

Also love my D90 and am perfectly happy. When/if a D400 appears, I'll consider opening my wallet.

I own two Canon 7Ds and the design is now about 5 years old but it is still a very good camera. In this day and age, that is a long time for a model to be out without updating. While it is called a prosumer model it truly is a professional camera with a crop sensor.

There are rumors of Canon putting out either a 7D II or even an 8D and I would only upgrade if one of my 7ds wears out or if they come up with significantly better high ISO performance as that has become one of the limiting factors in what I am photographing these days.

Your second pic is sweet. I wish it were on a 6x6 block of wood instead of that concrete. That would make it super for me but we can't control everything!

For me low light sensitivity is where I would start to make a move. Going d7000 from the d200 but I still beat up the d200 where the d7000 doesn't make a difference. 10mp still gets you a good image in my opinion depending on what your purpose is.

Great photos, I can see why you look no further, thank Nikon! Are you using HDR or RAW? They have a great dynamic range, or are they just normal shots? I am pondering just that, why some of the pro cameras are better that some lesser models that seem to have better statistics. I know there is something I am missing, but what it is I am not sure, better prisms or mirrors, tighter tolerances on workmanship?

Keep your stupid remarks to yourself. Who are you trying to impress? Just shows who and what you are.

Edmund, WOW!! Judging from the quality of the posts with your above comment, you sure don't NEED a new model as your D300S appears to be working quite well!! I have a D200 and I feel the same way you do as I was out today with a Nikon1 I just received from a friend and happened to get these 2 shots with the D200 while I was trying to learn how to use the Nikon1!! Hang onto the D300S as it is a great piece of gear!!

Nice shots, but this is exactly what Nikon (and Canon) does not want to hear. You have to buy the latest model to be able to get the best shots. The D600 is old hat by now. Get with the times! Spend money! :D

My two cents worth is.......the more the merrier. They cannot "force" me to buy anything, but if and when I'm ready, I would like to have more than two models to choose from.

Thanks,
Although I enjoy HDR photography, my tripod was at home when the opportunity arose for these shots. I do shoot all of my images in RAW and PP with Lightroom and NIK plugins.
I think that if you are good with a mouse, you could get the same or even better results with the adjuatment brush in LR alone. I'm going to get a Wacom Tablet for this very purpose.
i also use Photomatix and NIK HDR Pro for HDR, and may go back to Forge Pond and try similar shots using a tripod and HDR. Thanks again !
