Actually, I confused the "red dot" with a Leica, not a laser

Maybe this photo will help you understand. It's an alternative way to aim your gun. You can shot with both eyes open, maintaining better situational awareness. For all practical purposes, what ever you put the red dot on, is where the round is going to impact. You need only to focus your eyes on the target. In conventional aiming there are three planes of focus, the target the front sight and the rear sights. That's why it's so much faster to shoot. Modern military weapons have been using "red dots" for years.

The red dot is an optical illusion that only the shooter sees. The target will not see anything, even in total darkness.

It was not PETA I had to worry about. My wife gave me hell for scaring her teddy bear. ;-)

I read it as "America's gun of choice". Personally I favor the more traditional Colt six shooters of cowboy legend. I have a Ruger Vaquero .44 magnum made in USA which is a mighty purty handgun even though it kicks like a bitch!

The 44 magnum is the only gun I do not allow on my personal range. They make too much noise AND make marks on my steel targets!

The Glock became the American gun for the same reason the Toyota took over from American cars.

Glock is great piece.
For my taste, I prefer Detonics Combat Master , 45 acp and a variety of M1911A1's, plus civilian versions, tuned and tweeked, one compensated version ( and a couple M1927A1s ).

Hard to beat a double tap with a pair of 230 grain balls.

I have a Sig 229 Equinox out of the Custom Shop. The trigger was scratchy out of the box with a very long trigger squeeze and an unpredictable sear break. I sent it back to the Custom Shop and they put a short reset trigger on it and their custom trigger job. I got it back and the sear has a nice clean break but it double taps because of the short reset. I have an educated trigger finger and the gun is dangerous to shoot. It's beautiful to look at but I hate it and can't wait to get rid of it.

Walther is in name only since they went to bed with S&W. S&W made the best revolver, bar none. They don't make the Deep Deep bluing like in years gone by. It's all matt finish now to keep the cost down.

Walther... What can I say... I shot a lot of them , where is the ol' German quality?

Glock? It's an ugly pistol, as ugly as an unwanted stepchild but it works and works and works and works and works.....

I am still partial to Sig Sauer and Walther firearms. Although, it is a good thing for Glock that we recycle our plastic milk bottles.

I have a "Prepper" friend who has enough guns to build a house with...

If I let him, he will spend all day and long into the night telling me the velocity, weight, killing power, etc, etc, etc, ad nauseum...(sp?)

I just tune him out about 3 minutes after he starts..nod my head occasionally and grunt... satisfies him, and gets me sort of a nap.

I know you wouldn't see that red dot on your forehead but I am sure that you would not want to see it on your chest. Do you really think that you could jump out of the way of a bullet? Can I watch you do it?
