White Balance Filters - Yay or Nay?

+ for Expo Disc especially with difficult lighting you should be able to get far better color balance using it. In many instances of course the lighting will change or vary, if you start by using Expo Disc and setting it in Custom White balance you should be able to get better results.

But, to get the best results with an ExpoDisc, you need to take a pic of the light SOURCE, and best results are when that pic is taken from the subjects position.

Yes I totally agree, if if is a portrait, there is nothing wrong with moving close to the subject and using an Expo Disc and getting a reading off of the subjects face and then setting the white balance accordingly.

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
That's exactly wrong!
You need to shoot the SOURCE of the light NOT the light reflected off the subject.
You METER the reflected light for proper exposure.
