B&H is more convenient to Penn Station and is pretty well centralized in Manhattan. Time limits say B&H

On second thought, 2 hours isn't even close to enough time to visit B&H. :)

Will be visiting NYC in a few weeks and will only have about 2 hours to explore one of these stores. I have purchased from both and their customer service, selection and pricing is outstanding. Familiar with their Friday and Saturday hours and July 16th is a religous holiday. Any recommendations if I can only visit ONE store? Thanks.

If you give me a heads up as to approximately when you expect to be here I'd be happy to greet you personally and if you'd like, give you a personal tour of our extensive facilities. By the way, this offer is open exclusively to "all" but "only" UHH members (time and schedule permitting of course). I"ll message you with my contact info.

All the best.

Nothing against Adorama, but I gotta say B&H for the entertainment value alone. I'm weird this way, but I got a kick out of watching the whole transaction "lifecycle" including the basket system.

That being said, unless you're a NY state resident or a Pro who has business transactions* (like here in Cali), I'd recommend that you hold off buying anything big till you get home.

*If you try and write off gear as business expense, you have to show that you paid the appropriate sales tax OR you pay the equivalent CA tax.

That is a very gracious offer Hershel. Now I'm not so jealous of your offer to Lorenww a couple of days ago. I sure hope he found the time to take you up on your offer and am anxious for his report and pics. Would you mind messaging me your information? I'll next be visiting in early August and would just like the chance to meet you. :)

I wont even do business with Adorama anymore after so many run arounds from poor customer service. I also feel compelled to say, their extended warranty service through Mack Camera is the worst I have ever experienced.

If you just want to see best store visit B&H, if you want to buy something check before visiting if you can find this item in each store. I know that sometimes you can find something only in Adoroma or only in B&H. Good luck.

I'd go to B&H, but leave my credit cards at home.

Also, you can window shop, but wait 'til you get home to order. If you buy it there, you will pay NY sales tax. I think it's around 137% now.

I've bought from both but most of my stuff comes from B&H. If it were me, I'd go for B&H.

I have to agree with most of the responders - B&H without a doubt. Enjoy it and enjoy NYC one of my favorite places in the world.

In addition to Saturdays, B&H is closed on Friday starting in the late afternoon. Check their schedule.

We close at 2:p.m. (sharp) on Fridays during the summer months. The smart money is on checking our hours of operation here: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/find/HelpCenter/NYSuperStore08.jsp and click to see our Holiday Closing Schedule before visiting us. There is also a neat little video about our superstore at this link.

Best wishes to all for a magnificent 4th of July holiday!

I’ve bought from both, have had excellent expeience with both, but B&H is one class act. First, the store is really something that has to be seen in person. It’s like being in a FedEx warehouse! The automation systems there are simply amazing. It’s Disney Land for photographers. The store has EVERYTHING.
The sales people really know their stuff, and when the don’t, they connect you with someone who does.
I recently bought a new Canon lens, over the phone, from them and it broke on the 17th shot while I was testing it! The only time I’ve ever had a problem with a Canon product.
I called B&H, and after a short and pleasant conversation, had the mailing label in email a coupe of minutes later. I told them I had a shoot coming up the next weekend, and was told they’d do their best to get it to me on time. I got it on the Friday before the session.
They are a great company. Any photog who has the chance should give them a visit.
BTW – a salesman there told me B&H grosses in the billions annually. They ain’t no mom & pop.

You lot don't know even what's on your website when I'm inquiring about
postage to Australia.
And you become all precious and block emails when people show their frustration at you lot.
For example, the Pocket Wizard AC3.........
It's either the system or morons.
It's not my job to see which and I don't like them wasting my time, I'll go to someone else who knows what they're doing and selling.
