Will be visiting NYC in a few weeks and will only have about 2 hours to explore one of these stores. I have purchased from both and their customer service, selection and pricing is outstanding. Familiar with their Friday and Saturday hours and July 16th is a religous holiday. Any recommendations if I can only visit ONE store? Thanks.

If you just want to see best store visit B&H, if you want to buy something check before visiting if you can find this item in each store. I know that sometimes you can find something only in Adoroma or only in B&H. Good luck.

B&H is more convenient to Penn Station and is pretty well centralized in Manhattan. Time limits say B&H

They are fools. They have products on
their website and they don't even know
what they have when enquiring about
shipping.
I don't know how some people stay in
business.

They're both great stores, but much more extensive showroom to browse over at B&H. Plus, as another poster said, B&H very convenient for Penn Stn. Enjoy!

I enjoy B&H store more, I've been to both, buy from both, B&H is more enjoyable to walk around, and spend more too,

B&H hands down. Caution though, either have you wife with you to restrain your impulses or leave your wallet in the hotel safe. ;)

Both great, I buy from both. You should be such a "fool" to try tracking all that inventory and all those sales. B&H more conveniently accessable. BUT, I don't buy anything at the store ittself. 1: I don't want to schlep the item around the rest of the day. 2:free shipping, and since I am in UPS zone 2 from their New Jersewy warehouse, it means (usually) overnight delivery--free! 3: No pricey NY sales tax! Seems like a no-brainer...

I agree, as I've had bad experiences with them both, so I'm wary!

Good point. I do this too. I tell the salesperson right up front that I will be ordering on-line and he will do a printout of any item you want. Then later in the day you will have a handy reference to use when ordering on-line. The sales tax savings alone is worth the extra effort involved.

What, you expect the salesman on the floor to be intimately familiar with thousands of items? Most if not all are quite knowledgeable in the areas they work, lenses, camera bodies, bags, tripods, etc. and if they dont have an answer will get it for you. I asked a salesperson about camera bags and his answer was let me introduce you to someone who specializes in them. Go to Macy's ladies shoes department and start asking about the finer points of menswear and you will have the same experience. Buying/selling is an exchange of thoughts not a one way street.
