Anne,
I have taken courses through a program called EDtogo. It is a nationwide program affiliated with community and 4 year colleges. They offer curses on PSE, different versions and other photoraphy related subjects. They are 6 week programs, 2 lessons a week and very helpful.
You might want to check out what is available in your area.

Good info... That reminds me of a free online Photoshop class by Ben Willmore from August 22-24. It's only free if you view it live, but if you aren't doing anything, it might be worth your time. Here is the link:

That was run in 2012. Now it's a paid course. There is a free LR5 three day course in June at www.creativelive.com

I have Lightroom 4 and was somewhat lost until I signed up for Lynda.com for all the online tutorials I need for about $30 a month. Lightroom 4 is easy to import pictures and play around. It was still a little overwhelming until I went out early evening one day and took pictures at La Jolla Cove, an extraordinary place for pictures. I imported the days pictures an played around a few hours. When I got stumped I watched a tutorial to get me on track. The shots I took were ordinary (in raw format) until I began playing with contrast and sharpness. I got real excited when I saw the results, which spured me on to learn more. My point is to take pictures that excite you, then learn what you need as you need it in small steps. This can be from an online tutorial, google, YouTube. Take it in small steps. Begin with pictures that interest you. I have some great pictures of a nursing seal, coasline cliffs with bright spring flowers from that day. It starts with the pictures you take. Get excited which will move you forward. Another suggestion is to hire a photographer to help you. Your local camera store has people who you can hire for an hour or two to get you going. Take a community college class. Keep it fun. When it isn't, find help. I am amazed at what I learn from YouTube.

Wow! You are right... Thanks for pointing that out. Okay, that doesn't sit well with me now. Despite the fact that I can't read or that I have dementia, I think it's wrong to keep that video up almost a full year after it was done. Very disappointed. My apologies for posting the link.

Easy mistake to make. Done it myself. Reason it and all the others are up is that it, like the others is for sale. You can buy it for $99 and get access to the videos of the three day course and the PDF..you can check out the free one on LR 5 in June

Ann, I do not know your learning curve, however, before you spend a lot of money you might want to try a Google "Lightroom 4 Tutorial" search. There are some good ones out there which cover an introduction and each Lightroom module. Also, Adobe has good tutorials also . . . And they are free. Lightroom is a powerful program, but don't let that scare you. Everything it does makes perfect sense, it just takes some time and practice. Good luck.

I'm sure it would help. But two hours will barely touch the surface and may end up confusing you with too much overview information.

Two hours for $75 would be great one-on-one or for a very small group, but maybe not a class (20 people?). The classes I've taken are usually 15 hours over 6 weeks and cost less than $250.

There is so much free stuff on line (start with Adobe's website for some really good video tutorials that are well done and easy to understand), that I'd suggest you start there.
Then there are sites like Lynda.com that offer dozens of good lessons for a nominal fee (about $35 or so), that are a real bargain.

If you're referring to the ORGANIZE section of Elements - Don't Use It ... Yes, it is a little overwhelming and confusing. If you insist, then a class would probably help.

PSE 11 demands that you use open organizer to get to edit...its a pain in the butt...it constantly wants to update itself even when you don't generally use it. older versions has a short cut just to open edit - can't find it on 11.

if any one knows it please PM me

Try Lynda.com. It 's an online sort of technical school full of all sorts of courses that include LR4 plus about 1500 other courses. It's 25 a month and you can cancel anytime.A gal I know that teaches LR told me about it and said that if she told too many people about Lynda.com she would be out of a teaching job.

Ann, if you can learn all that in two hours, you're way more man than I am !
But it certainly wouldn't hurt you any.
Look into, and see what tutorials are on the NAPP website. I don't think it costs much more. I used to use it for photoshop. Good luck. SS

If you're still looking for assistance look here :

http://steeletraining.com/lightroom-course.htm

Yes it costs $39, but you can watch the course as many times as you want, whenever you want, as you're given a simple log-in. Phil's style is nice and easy to understand and his explanations simple to follow.

Look also for the free videos available from him.

Comes with my recommendation.
