Don't think so, not if you don't get along with modern technology. Paper and pencil for you my friend!

Are there any upcoming Kelby Training Live seminars in your area? Matt Kloskowski does a great job of explaining Lightroom in these seminars. Also you get a workbook that you take home which helps you "remember" what you learned :) I bought lightroom 3 and did not use it until I took the seminar. Now I have lightroom 4.... and love it. It cost me about $70 for a full day class. It would have been a little more but I have a NAPP membership.

Take the 2hour class on Lightroom. The initial setup for file handling in Lightroom can be a bit daunting, but the class should set you on the right course. I took a class at the local community college on Lightroom and it was the best 400 I have spent on photography yet to date (including equipment I've purchased)

It would help, but getting $75 worth of help is something else.

Try tv.adobe.com (skip the www). They have very good free videos on all their products. Also, check on creativelive.com. They have lengthy free webinars, which they also sell when the presentation is finished. I hesitate to spend money on instruction because of past experience. If I do pay for instruction, I prefer to have something solid to show for it - like a DVD or two.

Good Morning AnnMurrey, I have both, LR4 & PSE11, I love them both. Here is a link that you will be able to understand these programs much better:

http://tv.adobe.com/show/learn-lightroom-4/

http://tv.adobe.com/watch/adobe-digital-school-collection/what-is-adobe-premiere-elements/

I also bought the books Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 "CLASSROOM IN A BOOK" & Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 "CLASSROOM IN A BOOK". These are great practice tools to learn these programs. I would invest in these to get a great foundation of learning these programs.

Here is the link to the Classroom in a book:

Couldn't hurt. Also check out "FREE" three day Lightroom 5 course at creative live. www.creativelive.com on June 17,18 and 19. Broadcast live during the day and rebroadcast that evening. Totally free but you can buy it if you want to have it to refer back to later. Original broadcast and rebroadcast are free..

You will need some instruction on using it to get anything out of it. It's not bad once you figure it out, it just has a different workflow that isn't initially intuitive.

I would humbly suggest Lynda.com-They have tutorials for just about every software in there. You pay a monthly subscription fee and they have a 7 day free trial.
7 days will be enough alone to get you going. At $25 per month- you'd have three whole months at the cost of your seminar to really nail it.

I've tried a bunch of them and frankly I like Lynda the best... however others like other companies.

Try Lynda.com it is $25 a month and you can learn everything you want to know about Lightroom and a lot more. I think they offer a 7 day free trial to get you started. I think you will find it a much better deal than $75 for two hours.

Ann, I have used PSE for years and find it very useful. I'm curious about what your problem might be concerning 'getting pictures loaded onto it'? You can use "File/Open" or drag and drop much like most any other software.

It could; however, why not try the following "The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 Book for Digital Photographers (Voices That Matter)
Scott Kelby (Author)

The Kindle edition is $18.00 and the soft cover (large) is $33.00.

An excellent book. If you get it make sure you read carefully Chapter 1 on Importing.

Cheers, :-D

You could probably get PSPx5 for less, on sale, and between the included free help and you tube learn more than you need, consider wisely, never did get my head around Elements, picked up PSP on my own, a little help from you tube on more difficult tasks,
Bob.

I have Scott Kelby's book. It is great for reference and just working through from cover to cover. I also have videos by Phil Steele. They are great. Once you pay for the his video (it's on line) you can go back over and over again to refresh your memory. I like them both.

Good info... That reminds me of a free online Photoshop class by Ben Willmore from August 22-24. It's only free if you view it live, but if you aren't doing anything, it might be worth your time. Here is the link:
