Just got a message from Corel to download SP1 since it "may" fix the re sizing and cropping problem in PSP X4. Well it did NOT fix the problem but added a much more serious one. When I try to save ANY IMAGE as a JPEG, it gives me an error message saying that the file name is invalid!! No matter what I name the file, I get the same message.
Please be cautious when installing this Service Pack. I notified Corel of the problem. For those who may be interested, I attached the WORD document I sent to Corel with a couple of screen captures showing the problem.

I haven't experienced that problem with either of my computers. I have this on my desktop, and laptop, both with SP1 and no problems. Are you running Windows, or Mac? I run Windows 7 premium and Win 7 Pro. The Pro is on a 64 bit and the premium is on 32. Both are duo core.

I use PSP3 and 4 and I'm very satisfied. I had a full blown version of Photoshop (way too expensive) a few years ago and it has more than anyone really needs in my opinion (unless you are a PS expert) Paint Shop Pro 3 or 4 accept Photoshop plugins like Topaz etc. You can find tutorials on line for free on most any PSP subject. Its great for the money!

Interesting. I don't think Corel and those Intel processors like you! LOL

I installed the Service Park and have had no problems. I didn't have the original problem to begin with, though. AMD processor.

I have an AMD 64 and an Intel 32 bit, no problems with my install either.

I hate to ask this, but I wonder if the guy has a legal copy, NOT saying he pirated it, but perhaps he bought a computer with an illegal copy. I have had ABSOLUTELY no problems with my X4 copy in that area even when it was in the testing prebeta phase. If that was an issue like this, surely I would have ran across it myself when I was testing it for Corel.

Perhaps it's his settings, or a conflict with other software that he might be using. Very strange conflict he's got there.

I have all the versions from PSP 7 up to X4 Ultimate, and I have never heard of those problems that were described. X3 would hang on me, or process things slowly, and they have even had 4 major upgrades to it, but even then it never rendered my jpegs unreadable or corrupted them.

STOP THE PRESSES!!!

I rebooted my system and I can now save images as before. Apparently, after installing SP1 a hard REBOOT is required (at least with my type of Intel processor). Whew!

I am very sorry for causing unnecessary alarm but that was really scary for a while there.

However, the original problem with Re sizing and Cropping still remains and was not fixed in this Service Pack.

This is valuable info. Never know who runs into this again.
