I have Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X2, and like it a LOT better than Gimp! Easier to use by far... don't know what the difference is between X2 and X3 versions though. Sorry can't be much help

Yes!! I found Gimp very complicated to use.

I used it for years and have since moved on to Photoshop and lightroom. It is a pretty good program but has its limitations but is an excellent value for the money.

I have Paint Shop Pro X3 and am very satisfied with it. Have been using PSP for quite some time. Now PSP X4 is out.....it seems they are constantly "improving" and just when I think I've got the hang of the new version another one is released. Thank goodness I was able to get the last two new versions for free using Fry's rebates. My only problem.....I don't use it on a daily basis so I have to rely on the help section to refresh my memory. For those looking for this software at a good price, check out www.nothingbutsoftware.com. I've been very satisfied with their service.

I think it's an excellent program. I bought it a few months ago, started learning it, and then X4 came out so I immediately upgraded. If I'm going to learn something new, it might as well be the latest.

I have used PSP for many years and have found it to be excellent. I am currently using X3 and recently upgraded to X4. There are a few bugs in X4 (primarily with re-sizing) that should be fixed in the next patch but overall, I highly recommend the PSP programs. However, If you are not sure, you can always try before you buy. They offer a trial version. :-)

I've used X2 and X3, just upgraded to X4, I've also used Elements, and two versions of ACD and a U-lead product or two, I prefer Corel, I find it easier to learn and does alI need, right now there is a free trial and a purchase option $40 if I remember right, download or disk on the purchase. Bob.

I haven't found that bug yet and I do a lot of resizing. Could you expand on that, please, so I might know what problem to beware of? Thanks.

Sure. It happens when you re-size an image in X4 and then save it as a JPG. It's very weird. It also can happen when you crop an image and then save it as a JPG. Try a few test images. Resize the image then check the information and see what size it is. Then save the image as a JPG and then reopen it and check the image information again. It will be different than the information BEFORE the save.
I hope I explained that clearly. It's tough to describe.

I worked with the Corel folks for almost a week before they would finally admit that it was a bug. They assured me that it would be fixed in the next patch to X4........we'll see :)

Thanks. I do that kind of stuff many times each day and had not noticed a problem. I did it just now with 10 images and still didn't have that specific problem.

Is there some sort of specific information that changes? My size before the save was the same as the size after I saved, closed, and reopened.

I'm using Windows 7.

It came on my laptop and it seems to me just like Elements but maybe a little easier.I am terrible with computers so when I saw it was so much like the only other program I had used I was happy!.
I will warn you if you have Nikon NEF Raw it may not display it correctly in the preview window. What I had to do is download to View NX and convert to TIFF and put in a folder on my desktop, then into Corel PSP X3 and work on it.
Hope I helped. ALOHA

I have X2-4 and they all are great programs. X4 is by far the best of the 3 though. It has HDR merge like the other 2 and it has it's own photo editing area now where x2 doesn't, and x3 has one that's some what limited, and x3 is a resourse hog. I do not recommend it if you plan on getting x4 in the near future. I have been working with PSP from the JASC days, and this version (x4) is far superior to any of the previous versions, and you can post your finished product to Facebook or Twitter, or even email it if you like right from the program. X3 and X4 also handle RAW photos as well. If you need any more help on these programs, let me know, I will gladly help any way I can.

I have x4 with the service pack 1, and it doesn't have any resizing issues that I have found on it, they must have fixed it in the SP1 version.

I am using Windows 7 too. Corel said that it might have something to do with the processor that I have. I have a new computer (a retirement gift to myself :) ) that has a 3.33 gigahertz Intel Core i7 X 980 processor. They suspect that X4 might have an issue with the i7 Processor.

I attached some screen shots and notes I sent to Corel to show the problem. I hope this helps. It may just be the i7 processor issue.
