And they're helping to destroy what country we have left by not getting reality and not caring to.
They write it off as what we say isn't happening.
But when they finally get a taste of what they wished for, we can say they were warned !!

I have seen this sort of thing happening, too, but that doesn't mean that everyone who gets food stamps doesn't need and deserve them.
Nicely said Richard...C'mon my friend, get your head out of the sand! Since our fearless leader took office, welfare and food stamp applications went through the roof. Government freebees are there for the taking, I hate to say it but that's just human nature and Obama is more than happy to oblige them, another person taking government hand- out's is another vote for the Democrats.

well said,
Americans needing our help is ok by me, so let us just give Amnesty to the 6 million or so non Americans living here then I won't feel so bad about the handouts. Living in Southern Ca. I see countless individuals shopping and paying with EBT cards. I live in a 9 unit apt building and only 2 of us work, the other 7 are stay at home wards of the Country.

I suspect that Pigpen has never in his life been really desperately poor, doesn't know what trying to live like that is like, and doesn't give a damn about other people's problems, no matter how serious they are.

My personal experience is that a divorced friend who's making $23,000/year and has a child was denied food stamps. Your stories are just stories.

I should be offended but I believe I detect a bit of Sarcasm.

And why do you think these "handouts" have gone "through the roof" ? Just as Obama was taking office, the economy went spiraling downward at an incredibly rapid rate. To help people caught in that sort of situation is why what you call "handouts" exist. You aren't thinking. You are reacting.

I don't know whose comment you took to contain sarcasm, but there wasn't a hint of it intended in my last post about how you have probably never been desperately poor.

Wrong again. You should be used to it by now. You know nothing of me. I grew up with 5 siblings, one bedroom. That's right, 6 of us shared a bedroom!! Hell, we even had to share beds!! My mother refused to ask the government for help. It's because of my upbringing that I have no tolerance for lazy people. Just think what shape our country would be in if everyone felt the way my mother did!! Oh, did I mention she was a single parent!!

Mea culpa ! My suspicion was wrong. You're just behaving as though it was right.

Look at the post i am replying to, not yours. In 1965 when I enlisted in the USAF, I earned wages for 8 years that then were considered desperately poor. I have always been able to do whatever it took to earn my keep, so what if I have a degree, If i have to toss hamburgers I do that. I have never taken a handout from Uncle Sam. I do not mind handouts for the needy.
Nice discussion but duty calls. Good evening.

Look, I'm all for people getting a helping hand. There are just too many people that turn it into a lifestyle. Most people live the way they are "taught" to live. They grow up watching people taking advantage of the system, and they do the same ( I did say most, not all).

Ok, I had my laugh for the day, in three or four years from now when America becomes just another 3rd rate European Country, I wonder how many of us can stand up and say how proud we are to be an American? It all comes down to...if a poor person who is able to work comes up to you for a handout, you'll give him a fish to eat. I say, teach that person how to fish.
