It's interesting that you can shoot the same subject over and over again and still come up with different types of photographs. The manor of cropping can influence the photograph in a major way. Here is Another Huntington Beach surfing session.
These are all best viewed in download mode.

I snapped this with no thought as to composition or clutter. I thought it was humorous and the pose wouldn't last long.

While drinking my coffee this morning these guys dropped in onthe deck. I had seen them before but never this close. I was able to get a few quick shots before they flew off.

This is my first time taking pictures with a DSLR (pentax k-s1 with sigma 18-120mm lens). I am fairly new to using one and all photo's were taken on auto mode. Please provide any tips to help me improve. I am soon taking a trip to scotland and would love to make sure those pics are amazing.

This area has gotten so much rain in the last month dry pavement squishes when you walk on it (well nearly). I decided to see if I could have a bit of fun with an eagle and several vultures.
As usual, the download enlarges these pictures for better detail.

Hi, Hogs. Trying to improve my duck ID skills. Can't figure this one out. Anyone know? Is it a juvenile of whatever species it is? Thanks for any thoughts.

Let me say first that the quality of these images below is not acceptable (rainy, dark, shot from the hip, no PP, etc.) but the three shots are intended to merely illustrate my issue. I hear the term "100 % crop" tossed around but in considerable researching, the meaning of that term eludes me and the information, I'm not grasping, seems to run in circles. So! The first pic is full screen; the second is what I would call a 50% crop (literally eliminating half the original image) and the third while not necessarily a good idea, would be my idea of a 100% crop, eg; damn near eliminating the whole picture, lol. I know my process is primitive and is probably so off base and irrelevant that I may as well be walking around in my underwear, ...

My wife told me the Poinsettia she had bought for Christmas had some great light on it and I should grab my camera, so being the wise husband that I am, I did! Here are a couple of the shots taken.

This clearing on the river bank is designated as a boat maintenance area for the local commercial fishermen & there are boats & boat parts scattered all over the place (the boat pics in yesterday's post were taken here). Downloading is recommended.

Got a ink level low indicator for the light black cassette. Replaced the cassette with a fresh one but the indicator light continues to blink. I have printed with no apparent ill effects. Any ideas? I've gone through reboots and rechecks to no avail. Should I just shrug it off. Other colors do not seem to be affected. Here's a sample

This is the first time I tried this body with this lens. Sadly I didn’t remember to reset the camera to raw after a resent reset so I was very limited for post processing the resulting jpeg. This is a very heavy crop, even at 600mm the bird was at a fair distance. The lens was braced out the window of the jeep.
