I don't know anyone under the age of 30 buying a camera. They just reach in their pocket, get the phone and take 50 pictures. Then post all of them even if have of them are dark and blurry. Printing pictures is not happening. But, it works for them.

Yea, I certainly don't agree with that philosophy of posting everything no matter. And it irks me to no end when people are singing the praises of pics that are dark, blurry, etc.

Maybe just a momentary glitch as it worked then and now, and others in this thread have commented on the content. btw, I very much enjoyed the rest of your comments 🤗

Thanks, Linda. I tried several times. But thanks for posting it because I found all the award winners and really enjoyed exploring them. The depth of field accomplishable (is that even a word?!! lol) with cell phones never ceases to amaze me.

2019 winners of a mobile phone contest:

If people don't see the jaw-dropping impact in these, well, there's simply no hope for you 🙄

Learn the limitations, such as dynamic range or low-light issues or how large you can print, as mentioned - just as you would with any camera that's not top tier.

That link did not work. But I googled and found these. These are the landscape winners. Jaw-dropping. https://mobilephotoawards.com/landscapes-winners-9th-annual-mpa/

When I bought my iPhone 8 Plus the salesman raved about the two lenses and camera capacity of that camera and I simply wasn't interested because......real photographer and all. Have my own expensive equipment, blah blah blah. After a year of two of owning it I started using it for a shot or two now and then and was blown away. Then I took more and more. Now I'm about to upgrade to an 11 because I've seen its low light capabilities. I still shoot Nikon D750 and D500 DSLRs with my Tamron 150-600 for birding, 70-200 2.8's, etc but I often use my iPhone for short lens shots. Does my Nikon have more pixels - yes. But I also have Topaz Gigapixel in my arsenal in case I shoot something with fewer pixels that I need. As a 67 year old woman I don't want to carry two big cameras anymore - one with telephoto lens and one with landscape lens. Do what works for YOU! Cell phones today rock, depending on what you do with them! I see plenty of crap shots taken with them, too, so it's STILL THE PHOTOGRAPHER that matters!

Great shots, Katydid, esp for not being able to get out of the car. Kildeer are scarcer where I am. We've only seen them a few times. Not sure where those images might be right now. lol

Does anybody knows why Nikon keeps promoting the D750 FX camera? This camera is around 5 years old and I would say is already obsolete what is the scoop? And by the same token the D850 which is a newer camera with the latest technology is not available anywhere? I cannot understand the logic I have the D810 trying to upgrade to the D850 but no offers anywhere
Any thoughts/input will be appreciated

Can only tell you that I have TWO D750's and love them. I missed my first so much when it was in for service that I bought another when I found a great deal. Planned on selling the new one when I got the other back but am now keeping it so I have a back up. Use it for sports photography, birding, landscapes, and portraits. Very versatile and great results. Why change what ain't broke.

I also still have 2 D7100's and a D500.

On my to work in a few but on first glance of that link there are a few things. First, I'm shooting Jpeg so no raw to worry about. I'd hate to imagine how long the upload would take if I were shooting raw. Used to do that for work but no need. They don't want and it takes way longer to do the part of the job I don't get paid for.

Second item is that I can see the thumbnails right away. It's only AFTER the whole card is imported that the "fetching initial previews" starts and that makes zero sense to me.

Some information that may help. It seems this is a new thing in LR that they say is rather fragile.

I had to re-install Lightroom to my laptop after having my OS wiped clean to start over. My new LR Classic CC now imports images just fine but then it does something it calls "fetching initial previews" that takes twice as long as the initial import. I never had that before. Can anyone tell me what's going on and if and how I can change it back to the way it used to be. In the time my images are ready for me to work with I used to be DONE editing! Frustrated.

Thanks!

The $10/month Photographers Package includes both Lightrooms and 20 GB of cloud storage. Initially the conventional advice has been pick one or the other, not both. Most photographers, including me, want the tools, controls and organization of Classic.

Yesterday, Tim Grey did a two hour presentation on using them together as a means of sharing, distributing and working on your images. For me it was "mind bending". He would work on an image in old Classic, then view the results on a tablet or website. At one point he took a photo with his phone and it showed up in Classic ready for adjustments.

Many view the (new, cloud) Lightroom CC as weak, lacking tools, a beta and worse. Tim Grey sees it, and explains it, as an extraordinary extension of the (old, computer) Classic Lightroom CC. He sees it where the "whole is greater than the sum of the parts".

The presentation was done on Livestream and sponsored by B&H. In about a month it should be on the B&H YouTube channel. It appears you can watch it on the B&H Facebook page. Try going to Facebook and putting "Photos Everywhere With Lightroom Mobile" in the search box. B&H says that will work.

Note that this workflow is not going to be liked by those that want to quickly open an image, adjust the exposure and make a print. It might be liked by those that are curious about where digital photography is going.
The $10/month Photographers Package includes both ... (show quote)

Thank you!! Watching now. He's fun.

I just had to have my laptop wiped clean and after re-installing LR I was stunned to find a completely different layout. I managed to edit all the images from my job and then was stunned to find no export button. I was able to export them as full size images but that's not what my company wants. I had my old LR on my desktop so I ended up "saving" the files onto my photo card and then used LR on my desktop to export them to the 3MB size required. What a pain!!

Today after exploring UHH's posts on the subject I realized that I'd installed a different LR. I've now uninstalled CC and installed CC Classic. It's too bad because I liked a LOT about CC but with no ability to export hundreds of images at one time at a 3MB size it's no good to me.

I'm glad you found your solution thanks to the kind, helpful folks here at UHH.

Thank you--I found that in my google search. So, I guess, I will live with "as close as I can get." I like the size and weight of the 28-300.

Love my 28-300 as well and use it often. I do have the Nikon TC-20EII that I use with great success with my Nikon 70-200 2.8 but that is a fair bit heavier to carry around. For a walk around lens stick with your 28-300. I wish I could use that TC on other lenses as well but as has been stated here it's a NO GO!

Happy shooting!

There is usually a use by date on the carton. Can you tell me what it is?

Sorry, I don't see a date so I asked my partner to check and he doesn't see a date either. They are Genuine Canon and came from Staples.
