If you have a Mac computer you can use the “Migrate” option. Your requires Wi-Fi to do so. Just check it out online for the instructions from Apple. I to have an older iMac that I needed to migrate all of my programs and data to . This is how I managed to move everything over to my new iMac. I believe you can do the same with a laptop. Good luck. Because I had so much data that I wanted to transfer to my new computer, it took several hours.

Nice work. Too much haze here in San Diego to get a clear shot.

Last year I went on a tour of Scotland, specifically the Highlands. The tour was arranged through Road Scholar. We stayed at the Aigas castle land which is now a national preserve. Wonderful guides and opportunities for landscape photography. When I returned I had many images that I put into a photo book.
Scotland is a wild and wonderful environment to photograph. Have fun!

LOL! My same sentiments. Advertising and promotion really work....for the manufacturers and sellers...not necessarily for the photographer. My suggestion would be: See if you can rent the various cameras to try them out first and see if they meet your needs. Some camera stores will let you do this.

Understanding the reality of a situation and applying common sense may get you farther than bulldozing your way with legal facts.

Your question is interesting. If I was a woman, would I have the same challenges in photographing people in a scene?
Probably not.

I want to scan my old 35mm slides and multiple format film negatives. Does anyone know of an instrument that will do both? I tried doing that on my copier/scanner with poor results.

I use an EPSON V800 that has ICE technology. Works beautifully for multiple formats.

Agree...being asked by a family member...in my case for my son and daughter-in-law...was a no brainer for me.
Perhaps not recommend for all photographers, especially if you don't routinely shoot weddings. This was a project lovingly done for them, my son and his bride. They already knew of my photographic capabilities before they even asked me. I am a professional fine arts photographer. They had looked at the professional, commercial photographers and decided that what they wanted something more that just the typical wedding photoshoot...but one that showed the photographer actually cared about what and whom they were photographing. (I will probably receive a barrage of negative comments for this.) It was to be a casual wedding/reception situation. Yes...money would have been an issue for them. But...at the same time they wanted someone who already knew many of the wedding guests and would have some idea of how to capture the emotion of the day....and even some quirkiness of the guests.

This is not a project I would recommend someone take on if your heart would not be in it...especially if you are not a wedding photographer. Yes...I made some mistakes...but...those mistakes turned into some pretty laughable moments later. I gave my son and his new wife all of the files that were in color. The book I produced for them was in black and white. It became their Christmas gift and then their 1st anniversary gift. For me it was a fun project.

And...I'm still a fine art photographer...and not a wedding photographer. Its' way too much work and probably not all that much fun most of the time.

I'll leave the recommendations of what lenses to use, etc. to others here. First...have confidence in yourself that you can do this job. I too was asked to photograph my son's wedding and did it for free because of no professional experience. They were really pleased at the results! I even produced a book for them. Weddings are so hard to capture with the intimacy that is required to convey the emotion of the day. You also have to be more places at the same time...I discovered! If you think about what images will be the most memorable to capture...then be there in that moment with the couple or the bride...you will succeed.
Good luck...and don't forget to have fun! And breathe!

I too had my training in film first and do notice the difference in mindset when especially doing portraits. I use a large format film camera with a digital camera used to preview a set or scene. Because of this process I shoot less, design more, and achieve better results than if I just used my digital camera.
When I'm limited to my digital camera, I always wind up shooting more frames than I normally would with my film camera. But...I've also noticed that even with my digital camera, I take more time to think and design than just shoot a bunch of shots.
My film training, using manual focus, and manual settings both for film...and digital allow me to think through shots and pre-visualize.
Recently I had a book published of my portraits... "The Artist Portrait Project: A Photographic Memoir of Portrait Sessions with 50 Artists".

What a great idea...And, if you create books of your selected images, libraries and historical societies may see that they will be more available to posterity in that form...on a book self instead of a hard drive, floppy or slide of a time past.

Still working on my 10,000. LOL! Back in the day wouldn't that have been about 300 roles of 36 exposures...at least? But, in today's digital age...
He may have been referring to not just learning about photography...but also learning about and developing your own style. Even within the first 10,000 frames/shots there are probably some "keepers" that become starting points for future photographic journeys. Nice little exercise to have such a goal though.
