Often times airplanes that were used in "spy" operations were called Black Planes refering to the Black Ops that they performed. Sometimes they were painted black for night ops. Not Blackbirds, except many refer to their A/C as Birds.
As an example, in VietNam days the Navy had several Black EA3's stationed in Atsugi. They were often referred to as black airplanes.

Had a friend who had one. We put a Merc 312 in it, added two rows of louvers to the hood and drove it to Mexico and had the interior done in leather. Way too much engine for the car but it went like hammers.
I've been to Iceland, took only my 18-200. Iceland, Scotland, Maine, location doesn't matter to me. Wherever I go, the 18-200 will go, along with the 50mm. But that's me. I like to travel light.
