It's a very well done photo. The only thing I might have done would have been PP. It is a personal call but I would have have done some PP on the red blushes on her chest area. Reducing some of the red blemish around the the necklace area.

I have often cut an object and pasted it into a new layer, I do this to clean up the underlying without effecting the object.

Example to show you what my direction is, the glare from the Sun, you know the halo that comes with it. You select just the sun, copy it then paste it making a new layer. Then select the first layer as you working layer.. You can clone or air brush the sky in without worrying about coloring or effecting the sun. Note this is intended as an example. I hope that helps you some. It's also helpful when your colorizing a photo. Like a sweater or flower.

Most on the flashes and camerers are designed to talk together. If be chance your system doesn't or is not compatible it may not flash or give unexpected results.

Check your flash manufacture and model numbers for compatibility.

It appears you have taken a photo out a scrap books which as left the plastic impression on the photo (damaged). I used Frequency Separation to try in reduce that checking in the photo. But it also loses sharpness in the process. If any wants to work on this and bring up the color and sharpness, please do so.

Note I also noticed that you took a picture of the picture using a Nikon. Not easy to do.

As R.G. mentioned, the orginal file would be betterest. If this was a scan, please rescan with a resolution of 400 Dpi. The file as you posted is only 60 Kb, what we call a thumbnail. As you can see the image is very fuzzy.

In most PS programs you can just hold the shift key and it will allow you to make additional selections, the Alt key will allow you to remove selections.

I think Treepusher was pointing in the right direction in the first ten words of his opening, "There are a number of ways to get that painterly effect". Which at best is what it is, some do it better then others but few if any can match an artist stroke.

If am not mistaken this is a scanned photo, right. If so I have yet to see a scanner with a RAW option.

You Might also wish to bring up the resolution from 72 to about 300 that might help some.
