"Dirtpusher" and "Warrier"
Thanks for the good info. I intended to soon look up how to do this also. Now you saved me some work.

Go into your computer's windows up grade program and read all the horror stories in the forum. I have had all the problems listed. I went back to windows 7, but Microsoft makes sure that will NOT work properly by doing this. I'll wait another 5 or more years before changing from 7 again.

I have always liked the Studebaker design. I was just at a car show & got these Studebaker photos. I couldn't get a good front photo of the rare red
( Granturismo) Studebaker. I'll try to send you all the photos.

Just to add to the choices, I have owned a Panasonic Lumix-FZ50 for about 6 or so yrs., (this model is not made any more). I bought it because of the lens maker, but every part of this camera is good quality and useful features, like RAW, RAW + JPEG, JPEG, and most all of the features found on a DSLR. Todays Panasonic Lumix cameras are very good quality and features. And the photographs it has produced are excellent quality. To have a compact camera with a F2.8 lens from 28mm. to 600mm. is a VERY useful camera. You SHOULD look at some and consider one. Of course a new DSLR, like my Sony A77, have features and quality that is hard to match. But your wanting a camera that is not as expensive and will do most of the time. And you won't need any other lenses to carry, change, and then get dirt onto the sensor.
Give a Panasonic Lumix a try. I'll bet you will not be disappointed.

Thanks again everyone for help finding USA version of DigitalCameraWorld. I have to find a new Barns & Noble as the close to me closed.
Somerlease, yes I now feel the same pain. The UK does have some things that are better. By the way, I like your photo site. Good work. (your photo looks like you could be a sailor too. ?)

Thanks-sharpshooter, ajarnbill, robertjerl, doduce for the responses. It's good to hear all you guys think this is a good magazine, as I do. I know it can be subscribed to at a very high price and it seems those who have subscribed have had quite a lot of trouble getting it sent properly. That's why I would like to find some place that handles it here in the USA regularly. I'll try the book sellers. Thanks again.

Does anyone know where & how I can buy DigitalCameraWorld magazine in the USA, made for USA customers, with US prices, measurements, etc. And do you get and read this magazine? If so, how do you like it? Their internet site looks to me that this magazine is one of the best.

Good photos Burt. You know how they say "the grass is always greener -----", well I haven't been to Chanticleer Gardens YET, I guess only because I live too close (Souderton Pa.). What kind of photography equipment did you, & do you use? I also like to see some of the EXIF information, like f stop, time, iso, etc. I'm one of those that never gets done learning.

If you want to see some of the best photos I've seen taken with a long lens and an extender, look up "snooker2009" (Larry Keller). You can't ask for better

CHOLLY,
The Friedman book & a lot of his stuff look great. I will get his book on the a77. Looks like it will educate me and save me time I would have spent experimenting to see what the best ways were to use the camera functions. AND MORE!
The youtube series has a lot of good stuff also. I have gotten some good info. already from it.
Thanks,

Wayne

CHOLLY,
Thanks. I'll check it out (or in).
There is so much in the modern camera's computer, it would be foolish not to learn how to use all the features that are in the camera. It took me a long time to thoroughly be able to use all the capabilities of my last camera. And I run into people all the time who are not able to get the most & best from their cameras because they have not taken the time or effort to learn to use what they have in their camera. I know I am a lot more pleased with the results after I learn how to improve my photos by using the controls and programs properly.
Thanks again. I'll look at anything you send me that will help me get better at what I love to do.

CHOLLY,
This is very interesting to me. I will set up like this on my camera. I have seen too many "photographers" that go much too high with the SO settings regularly & spoil the photos.
Any more good suggestions for this camera will be appreciated.

To ALL the Sony a77 camera fans.
Thanks a lot for all the good info. After 3 days of having the camera in my hands, I'm impressed with the entire package. The instruction book (yes, I'm the one that reads it) is easy to work with, unlike a lot of others. But I have a lot to learn on this camera.
The added information all you photographers are writing about is being kept and will be used. This is like getting some schooling, but not paying for it. But I always get a lot of info. from the camera users after schools. As I have said, I'm always learning.
Below is a web cast I intend to listen to & perhaps join into that I got from B&H. Not that I want a "newer & better" Sony, but the subject & speakers sound good. I'd be interested in hearing what some of you that are already shooting with the Sony think of web cast.
Thanks again for growing my head because I made a good choice of camera & lens.

Wayne
