Very nice... I've been looking for a shot similar to this on the Mississippi River in Missouri. Been out several times but just cant seem to catch it - yet (darn it). Been shooting (non pro) for several years now and you have nailed my shot. Again very nice. Thanks for sharing.

Been to the Oregon coast a couple times past few years (family in Portland). Have been from "Yachats" (south of Newport) north to "Seaside" along hwy 101. Not sure what type of photos you would like but all photo opps never seem to stop. Sea coast, Lighthouses, towns, etc.
Enjoy. I know I did. I was born and raised in Florida (flat) so what a treat that has been. What a beautiful state.
Have fun.

Sorry everyone about not sticking to the subject matter of 8x10 prints. I thought I was just replying JCam.

JCam, I have many types and brands of photo Paper. I have printed on all of them but I guess the most printing I have done with ink from Inkgrabber is on a brand I got from "Cosco" a few years back. It is "Kirkland" Professional Glossy Inkjet. Also the other brands are "Canon", "Ilford" Smooth Pearl, "Staples" (Staples Office Supply), "Epson", "Kodak", "PrintWorks", and "HP". I have printed on glossy, pearl, and matte paper with no problems as yet. All have held up great with very good color.
The variety of photos I print can be found on "Flickr.com/woodpecker4944"
click on "woodpecker4944's photostream. Many of these have been printed using Inkgrabber's ink. Again I have had no problem with there inks.

Not sure if this will help in that particular photo but rotate it 90 degrees to landscape orientation then crop to 10 x 8. I have done a few that way and it saved the day. Not all work but it may be worth a try.
Off the subject but for ink you may try "Inkgrabber.com". Go on line an check them out. They are a mail order company and have every ink for ever model of printer you can think of for at least 1/3 the price of a retail store. I use there brand and have been using them for a couple years now with no problems at all. I have a Canon Pixma Pro 9000 and print 13 x 19 prints with excellent results. Good luck.

Nice. Hope I didn't offend you.
I am a member of the "Canton Camera Club" in Missouri and kind of a habit to critique and suggest different ways to take the same shot. To me the background and foreground was competing with each other. Now they seem to be more separated and the boat is still part of the photo. Anyway nice shot . Wish I could spend more time on that coast.

Second photo much better. Good composition. As a suggestion a step to the left (if possible) would have taken out the foreground protruding object at bow of the boat. Try it with more depth of field (DOF) if you can. Just enough to blur the background a little. This is only my observation.
The location seems to be a great place to photograph as I love this type of photography. Wish I could be there.

annielee welcome to the world of photography.
I started a photo club in NW Missouri 4 years ago and it is doing well. Many of the members started out knowing very little and now some are wining a few photo contest. What I'm driving at is if there is a photo club near you check it out. Most clubs are like a social club at least ours is. We "eat and show photos" we even ask questions about photography "ha". Anyway a club is a good way to meet like folks and have fun. As has been stated before the internet is a great place to get info also the manual that came with your camera should have all the lingo. Best of luck and keep it fun. Bob B

I have done several weddings and I do not consider me a professional. At all my weddings and any similar functions I let everyone know I need to have everyone hold off on there photography and flashes until I take mine (This generally does not apply to the photos during and immediately after the ceremony as this is the posing of the formal shots). For weddings most folks are on there way to the reception. Any who chooses to stay can and most of the time anyone is allowed to shoot after me (with time being a factor) as the subjects are posed in most cases.
The bride and groom are the most important part of the wedding but how about family?
Yes give the hired photographer there respect but THEY SHOULD NOT deprive the family there own private memory's.
As for the price it is out of line for what it seems they got.
EstherP said it best.

Thanks Gpappy.
I will take a look. I would really like to try some Infrared stuff if I can without a lot of expense. Not sure how much of it I will do.
Thanks again....Bob

Thanks everyone for the fast response. I will check out the Hoya R72. The prim camera I will be shooting with is a Nikon D80 with a Sigma 1.8, 70/200mm zoom lens. I am looking to do very little computer processing. Maybe a little enhacing and cropping, that's it.
One of our photoclub members has one of his cameras converted to infrared. It seems he is doing too much computer enhacing for my taste. I have a friend in Florida doing film infrared with no processing and as you know I would like to do it digitally. Thanks again. Bob

I would like to try some digital black and white Infrared photography with my 72 or 77 mm lens. Not sure what filter to get for a good old black and white infrared shot as I have seen years back with film. Suggestions ?
