n my crop, the 15-85 only came off my camera when I did nature.
On a FF, the 24-105, now IS my most used lens!!!!
But on a crop body, I just don't feel the 24-105 is adequate for versatile daily duties because of its limited wide end.
BUT, that's just MY opinion. I'm sure many will disagree!!! Good luck with your quest! ;-)

I just want to agree, on my 60D I find the 15 - 85 ef-s an excellent lens, sharp wide open and from wide to zoomed all the way out. A great lens for a Crop camera.

Most of this debt is the result of the wars that Bush got us into and the refusal of your darling republicans to pay for these wars with higher taxes.

If you're really serious about results and want to put the equipment question to rest you can purchase Leica and concentrate on taking great photographs.
Surprisingly, I don't see Leica mentioned here much, if at all, but I see heaps of money spent on Canon and Nikon.

Technically, Leica has not made a camera since the late 1970's, when they sold their camera business.

I have to totally agree with Mr. Warrior here. For me, my first choice for a bridge camera was a Nikon D70, which I believe for a beginner digital photographer was/is a great choice. I do have five Nikon AF Nikkor lenses which are compatible with the camera. Then I decided I needed to stretch a little more and picked up a Pentax K100d Super camera. Here again I have five Pentax lenses which are compatible with this camera. Also an excellent choice for me. Now, speaking only for myself, I am not a technology savvy individual. My background is in Accounting and Finance so I didn't see a need for a lot features I would most likely, never use. Both have worked out very well for me. In fact, I thought I would make things easier by purging my arsenal (if you will) to one camera. I feel like Sophie in "Sophie's Choice" and decided to keep both. Good luck and I hope this helps. Regards,

Tony

Buddha, for what it is worth, I have 2 external drives that stay connected to my desktop. Something gets backed up every time I use my system. It won't hurt them, or your PC, to keep them plugged in, if that's what you want.

I manually start, and check, every backup. When my system's hard drive crashes, chances are good it won't allow me the time to do that backup before it goes south. My point is, I always get nervous for folks when they talk about their "automatic backup". It's certainly convenient, but I encourage you to do something to ensure everything you want backed up is on your backup drive.

Just friendly advice. No criticism intended.

If you have a very strong surge, perhaps a direct lightning strike, your attached backups will be toast. I back up first to a raid 1 drive and then to external drives stored off site.

[quote=Mark7829]I don't find any empirical evidence to support that. Can you post where you got that or did you just make that up. Tony Northrup posted a video on this very issue from information found on DxO labs. The findings are that it is better to use crop sensor lenses on crop sensor cameras. DxO Labs has consolidated information from the standard MTF graphs for lens performance into the what they label Perceptual MPix or P-MP for sharpness. The higher/better scores are rendered when the crop sensor lenses are on crop sensor camera and not when full frame lenses are on crop sensor cameras. Another member has provided you a link below. I noticed you did not respond to it.

Few of us believe Northrup is worth replying to.

Not at a feeder. This lady was up in a tree about 20 ft. away. I am surprised that the photos are still o.k. to look at considering that I enlarged and cropped the hell out of them. My camera is an ASP-C crop sensor type and I was using an 18-250 Sigma zoom lens.

I am impressed, Good work.

Anyone who has installed Windows 10 I would recommend reverting back to their old operating system. Microsoft admits Windows 10 is not a finished product with the remainder of the OS to be released in a couple of months. There are just too many bugs to make it worthwhile.

I have installed Win 10 on 4 Machines, one an Asus Transformer. All work fine. I could not disagree more strongly. With win 10 installed on millions of machines it is not surprising that some problems appear. Very upsetting to those having problems, but it does not mean that Win 10 is a failure. Recently my notebook, after running win 10 just fine for a month, refused to boot. I suspected memory trouble so removed one memory module. Worked fine. Reattached the USB3 hub and it continued to work. Shut the computer down it refused to complete bootup. Detached the hub, restarted the computer and all was well. Strangely, I moved one USB cable to a different port on the same hub and that seems to have resolved the problem. An identical seven port hub on my work machine has had no problems. I doubt that any of this has anything to do with Win 10, it just shows how complicated a minor computer problem can be.

You are not the first person to have problems with getting pictures into their machine using Windows 10. Most of the problems I've read are those concerning people trying to do it from camera to Windows 10. Now you are the first one that I've read going from a card reader to Windows 10. I have not seen or used Windows 10 but I've read nothing but problems. I'm almost inclined to say, without ever seeing Windows 10, that they are trying something new like Mac with their new picture viewing/editing program Photos. If that is the case, then images aren't put into folders, they are put into a catalog that may or may not contain folders. I may have to go to Best Buy and see if I can make sense of Microsoft's new operating system.

I would suggest that you not make generalizations about a subject that you obvious have little knowledge of. It is not helpful. I have Win 10 running on 4 computers with few problems, and certainly not this one. I think that you have managed to open one of the included programs which is interfering. Try creating the receiving folder and then copy your files as you are used to doing. I think that may help. I have when exploring files with the "File Explore" clicked open when I meant to click "open with" which was not what I wanted to do. In general I am finding Win 10 a stable and easy to use system. Will take a bit of getting used to but worth it.

The OP's problem was indeed due to 2 letters, not LR, but PC. As soon as I read what the PC archeology had done in changing the drive letters, I knew there would be trouble coming. I used to hate, hate, hate the PC's design for automatically assigning drive letters to new drives. However, I don't have that problem now with a Mac. I am sorry that you are having so much problem with LR, but as the other posters have stated, the problem is not LR, it's your stupid PC that caused the problem. I realize that I have not added anything constructive to your post, but just wanted to add my 2 cents worth to the other posters' comments about LR not being the problem here. If your budget can afford it, take a look at the Mac. It's worth every penny of peace and quiet. When you add a new external hard drive to the Mac, you get to name the drive with whatever name you want to call it: 1 or A or Bruce, etc

I would advise sticking to what you know. You can certainly assign drive letters to a PC As I have to the drives on my net work. If you want to pay three times as much for the same hardware that's your privilege, just don't pretend to be an expert on PCs.

How is it a disaster? I have four computers running 10 just fine, but that does mean someone else won't have trouble.
