That's what a friend of mine did recently. He always deals with one local camera shop and he gets a fair trade in value (in his opinion) for his upgrades. He upgraded (again in his opinion) to the same a6000 camera. I think he did it for a weight saving advantage since he's 65 years old and his shoulders have been bothering him.

I'm 69 and I can't see carry all that weight any more.
Thanks

Easy, a D700 has got to be many years old and with only 7K on the odo. That tells me you really never shoot!
Maybe you should just get the best phone you can find like the iPhone 6s and then your wife can also call you to cruise on home to dinner !!!!
Sorry, seriously, for as long as I call myself a real photographer, I will probably always use a dslr. I'm not ready for the compromises to my photography just quite yet.
I'm sure there is no shortage of guys here to push you into ML and small sensors though. Good luck

My guess is that you have no trouble with your shoulders. I know that when My dad was in his late 50's he got Arthritis to the point he could barely lift his arms to shoulder level. He was no longer able to turn wrenches so he retired. If the OP has the same type of shoulder problems it makes no difference what he wants it will be what he can do.

You are a very funny guy, but don't you use a 7DII? That sensor isn't bigger than the one in the Sony A6000

I am 71 yrs. old, I have 10 lenses, I made two trips to Alaska in two years. I carried with me two camera bodies plus 4 lenses. I enjoyed both trips very much. I didn't miss any shots and collected over 1200 images each. i didn't feel they are heavy at all as soon as I was 100% on the mission for photography! I won't switch to any MLS because of weight!

I'm getting up there and have no problems with my heavy gear but, my time will come, and so will yours!
Hi Jethro
I too am 71 and I have Arthritis in my knees and hands and I still shoot a DSLR I just take my time as I'm not as fast as I was, yet I'm not ready to give up my DSLR.

How much is the A6000 outfit goes for? My guess is about $1000 and I think $1000 is too little for your gear. 7K isn't much used.

Maybe you are not. The OP seems to think he is. It is not up to us to try to convince him otherwise. He asked for an answer to his question. The problem is only he can answer it the rest of us can p*** into the wind. I tend to think along the lines of it's my choice and I am the only one who matters.

I would keep D700, it's a great camera with only 7k clicks. I would probably get one of the Nikon DX bodies, like d5300, 5500, 3300 and trade in you lenses for AF-S (50mm, 24-120mm) so it'll focus on DX. d5500, d3300 are very light. That way you have two bodies FX and DX to play with. Just a thought.
